BriannesFishFam
Hi! I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for rare fish breeding. I want to try to breed fish that are rare but not that expensive. 5 gallons, 10 gallons, 20 gallons for breeding and any size grow-out tank. Could be anything, plecos, cories, rams, anything. I few I have in mind are rare black cories, platinum & silver and black ricefish, midnight rams. If that gives a good idea. Something that you cannot really find or most people didn't know existed. Beardedbillygoat1975
Certain body types and color live bearers that are rarer in the hobby can be easy and do well on sales. Teacup platys (fireballs), blue Hawaiian Moscow guppies, any of the guppy strains from Luke Roebuck and certain color morphs of variatus platys and some of the wilds sell for more.

mountaintoppufferkeeper
My somewhat rare project is a group of panda loaches down low with clown killies up top. More of a 20 gallon cooler water set up. I would argue, based off limited availablity most times ive looked, the clown killies are effectively rare. Both look great to me. .
DSH OUTDOORS
My suggestion, as I just started a project myself is Zoogoneticus tequila, or commonly known as the Tequila Splitfin. If there is a wild population left it is small and vulnerable. The American Livebearer Association has them listed in their species maintenance program. The gestation period is long for a livebearer buy the fry are large and fairly easy to care for. I also think they look pretty cool.
Johannes
Ivanacara adoketa for a 20 gal. And honey comb cats in a biotope with the adoketas. Or a rare Livebearer or a strain like goodeieds and white peacock endlers. Edited June 24, 2021 by Johannes 2

Johannes
Cool the goodeids are one of my favorite Livebearers but I don't have a tank for them. Hopefully some in the future
