  1. OMG THERE'S 2 BABYFISH!!!! I had put 2 eggs in there but we'd only seen one baby & I figured I was lucky to get that. I'm just sitting here eating dinner & watching the tank. The baby comes out quite a bit now that it's getting bigger. Guess that's what regular feeding does.. poor things survived off of whatever the first couple weeks. So I'm watching it do Cory things & then I think I see a flicker out the corner of my eye. No way... So I start watching more intently. I'm like this is such an active little babyfish, it's all over the tank, ducks behind something & pops out the other side of the tank a second later... and then I see two at the same time!!! Undeniably two baby Corys!!! I can't even believe it! I'm so glad they have a friend!
  2. That is a beautiful tribute. I'm sure he was a happy fish.
  3. Babyfish really likes this rock. Perfectly camouflaged 😎
  4. Oh man, that's too bad! Thank you for all that info though. I'm hoping to get medaka soon (if the co-op still has them) for my 20L & then do an outdoor tub next year.
  5. What size is your outdoor tub vs your indoor tank? @Jimmy pure speculation here, as I don't have 1st hand knowledge, but what I'm thinking is that while a 20L is plenty big for rice fish to live in, it's not so large that they couldn't patrol the whole thing regularly. They'd be likely to find the fry pretty easily...
  6. We're all like-minded people here, no one needs thinly veiled excuses. We wholeheartedly endorse MTS 😂 Children are so naturally curious about everything around them, and you showing passion will undoubtedly draw her in (you're already seeing it). She may only take an interest for a time, but it's a valuable learning experience regardless ☺️
  7. Reading the title, I figured it was a thinly veiled excuse for you to get another tank 😅 But that's great, love it!
  8. My cory's eggs get eaten pretty quickly too, but I managed to find 2 one day, so I took them out & put them in a tank with no fish. Really didn't expect anything, but whaddya know!
  9. Don't mind if I do! It's my very first babyfish, a Corydoras paleatus that I never expected to hatch. It's still so little, it's hard to get good pics, but I did manage to get some decent video last night:
  10. I don't watch much TV, but my husband has been watching old X Files episodes. I used to love that show, probably seen every episode. Now it seems kinda cheesy though 🤷 And of course, we just got done with House of the Dragon. What can I say, I'm a basic B 😅 HBO just has the formula down.
  11. Probably 2-3 weeks ETA: Could be 4 weeks at most. Guess I shoulda noted it in my journal when I pulled the eggs!
  12. Got some decent video of the baby! Nevermind the sounds of us eating dinner, my dog whining & my husband's commentary 😅
  13. 100%. I love them, they are my 1st Cory & they're already breeding (I have my 1st baby 🤗). If you started out with a dozen or so @Jazz Pizza you'd have 50 sooner or later.
  14. This is the case for us too. We have one postal carrier who will absolutely not get out of the vehicle to deliver a package. If it can't fit in the mailbox, it's marked "undeliverable" & we don't get it until another carrier brings it. So frustrating. All the rest of the USPS people are fine, as is every other shipper.
  15. That's definitely a concern, but it's understandable. When I started with my 10g, I quickly overstocked it. It could've been fine, parameter-wise, I just would've needed to watch it & do water changes as needed. But more than that, the 'vibe' was off, too much going on & none of the fish seemed content. I've since learned, I really like the feel of a heavily planted tank but understocked with fish. That's just me though. I'd say, list out your fish & rank them from most wanted to least. Then go watch them, either in the store or in videos. I've also found that while initially I like a fish for how it looks (that's all you can see in pics!), long term I enjoy them for how they interact with their surroundings. You may end up rearranging your list. Then just add the fish slowly so you can stop if you feel you've maxed it out. Hope that helps!
  16. Hmm, I keep mine 75-77, and it probably got a bit higher in the summer (which is when I got them, so I haven't had them long). I see Planet Catfish lists 77 as their max temp, so if keeping them there long term is bad, I'd like to know too.
  17. Y'know, I never cared much about guppies, before I had them. Then I ended up with 3 male "rescue" guppies & found that they're actually pretty fun fish, very active. I had kinda heard of Endler "guppies", so as I came across more info on them & eventually learned about the classes, I was hooked when I learned about N-class. It just intrigues me to keep alive the pure lineage since the hybrids are so prevalent, even being found in the wild.
  18. For the 1st time ever, I'm ORD! 🤣 But I was wondering how your 1st day went! A perfect way to enter the working world. I've worked in customer service in some capacity my whole life. Great advice so far & I picked out a few choice tidbits above. I'll reiterate: Smile & be friendly. Always put a positive spin, avoid negativity. Even if someone is way off base, make a positive comment about their enthusiasm. Ask questions then LISTEN. Avoid information overload. Give enough info to pique their interest, then they're more inclined to seek out more knowledge. Offer options. Try to avoid giving absolutes. Absolutes make you seem smug & overbearing. Options make you seem helpful & well-informed. Never let them see you sweat. You'll inevitably come across some real jerks. An "I can understand your concern/frustration/disappointment" can go a long way to diffusing a situation. If you need to vent, never on the sales floor. Respect your superiors, even if you think they're wrong. Wishing you all the best!
  19. 100% But there's a difference between a profit margin that keeps you in business & pays your employees and the corporate ethic of maximizing all possible profit for the benefit of the shareholders at the expense of everything else.
