  1. It reflects the water color very nicely. Does it have a bit of tannin color naturally?
  2. I'll check them out. Can see a picture of the color?
  3. Sounds like the size is perfect. Let me look at the price. Hopefully I won't have a heart attack. Thank you. Holy cow, that's expensive.
  4. Greetings all, I'm looking for a substrate suggestion that is similar to Carib Sea Peace River pebbles. I'm hoping for a bit smaller pieces but I love the color and hopefully can get a suggestion that's similar, just a bit closer to sand. So an in-between sand and Peace River size. Thank you for any insight.
  5. I'm looking for substrate suggestions. I want something like Carib Sea Peace River but a bit smaller pebbles. Any recommendations? I hoping for the same or similar color as peace river too. I'll post this separately as not many will be seeing it here.
  6. I will say water turnover needs to be addressed along with this discussion. Spray bars are usually run with canister filters and the right size canister filter offers, typically, more water turnover. Pros, More water can be turned over while offering higher or lower flow in the tank. Superior surface agitation that can be lengthened or shortened. Cons, A bit more hands on at times. Air stones, Pros, Cheaper Easier to clean Cons, Ugly Requires additional equipment Splash I forgot to mention that a spray bar offers laminar flow. A pro.
  7. Shouldn't matter too much. Circulating the co2 around the tank is where I would focus.
  8. I moved some plants to the 40 that I want to keep around and man does this Erectus love the Aqua Soil. Also the limnophilia is really enjoying it too. Never seen this growth pattern out of it.
  9. For sand, I like FairmountSantrol AquaQuartz-50 Pool Filter 20-Grade Silica Sand 50 Pounds, White https://a.co/d/hcBisJr For an Aqua Soil, I like Limited-time deal: LANDEN Aqua Soil Substrate for Natural Planted Aquarium, Plant or Shrimp Stratum, Clay Gravel and Stable Porous Substrate for Freshwater Aquarium, Black Color (20 lbs) https://a.co/d/gkEvxpS Landen will spike ammonia temporally, you must take steps to handle it. Spikes for about 2 weeks.
  10. It's going to be. Be ready for large water changes and daily filter cleaning.
  11. I would stay the course and after 3 generations, increase water changes a bit at a time. After the 3rd generation, shrimp become pretty resilient.
  12. American Marine PINPOINT pH Monitor + Calibration Fluids https://a.co/d/d1qajKf America Marine Inc. Pinpoint pH Controller Interface 120VAC https://a.co/d/cOHB9Wj
  13. It's extremely difficult to trust all hobbyist level testing kit. The only way to trust them is to calibrate them against know solution samples. When working with CO2, I do recommend dropping extra dollars on a decent pH probe. Not the cheap ones unfortunately. The only one I trust is American Marine.
  14. It's hard to work with and had I known then what I know now, I would have never swapped to it. Damages plants when planting all the time and just overall frustrating.
  15. I would do a section at a time. It's going to be a mess and you will loose your cycle. I'd also encourage you to rethink Eco Complete.
  16. Your looking for a 1 to 1.5 pH drop from a degassed sample. Set some tank water out for 12 to 24 hours and then pH it. That's your degassed starting point. Also keep in mind that seiryu stone raises KH and your numbers will fluctuate because of the stone. I would check KH at the time of testing and compare the KH and pH against a co2 chart. https://barrreport.com/articles/co2-ph-kh-table.41/
  17. Try the claw looking section down towards the front. Give a few angles a try. Maybe even going under that nice wood it's leaning on.
  18. Not much, I would just have that stick placed more to the flow the tank already draws my eyes. I would move the forward right plant more middleish to create that front to back draw. Continue growing the plants to create that depth you already have going. I'm drawn to these channels already. Some Val or tall sag in the back right could be nice too.
  19. This isn't the best picture, but you can see how it adds a bit of depth to the tank.
  20. I think there's too much foreground happening that stops your eyes from wondering around. Try to create some depth and move some plants back with the larger plants furthest away.
  21. Constantly decaying matter is an ammonia source. With no fish, the plants will love it, but so does algae.
  22. You could do a moss wall. https://barrreport.com/articles/how-to-build-an-easily-removable-moss-wall.44/
  23. It would be all nutrients as metabolism is fueled by light. More light, more nutrient uptake.
