  1. Definitely a hearty fish and do better with lots of room to swim. Easily breed if they are feeling comfortable. I don't go less than 14 in a group but aquarium size... They will jump if startled.
  2. Looks like I read it wrong. I was thinking you dosed additional Mg throughout the week. I've been thinking about my dosing schedule for the epiphyte tank and reading a lot. Some people dose an additional 2ppm over the week.
  3. I may have read wrong, are you dosing it along with NPK or just all at once when you remineralize?
  4. I actually tossed this entire clump in the back yard 😁
  5. I don't have anyone around me to get plants from. Albuquerque has no shops with plants worth buying.
  6. Honestly, I need to double that order...darn budget! The single best defense against algae is plant mass. The substrate swap is going to throw the tank way off.
  7. Amano are army tanks and I would go that route for shrimp that eat certain algae. That said, the best defense against algae is plant mass and large regular water changes and mulm removal. I can't express how effective plant mass truly is in preventing algae.
  8. I needed to double the order but I have a wife who wants to keep her hair 😂. I have tons of Dwarf Sag I'm keeping and the Val Leopard. Have some Anubia laying around and another crypt I'm really liking right now.
  9. Expect 8 inches out of dwarf Sag. Once you start cutting it, it takes off.
  10. Update on the 40 and 75. I've been lazy with the 40 and honestly has become just a holding place for my stems. The fate of the 40 is in question. Both my wife and I agree we want to have an easier water change day. So the possibility of it being sold is on the table. My heart wants to either turn it into an Apisto tank or a shrimp tank. But that does defeat simplification. The 75 is in transition as above and it's looking like the substrate swap is next week. Maybe 2 weeks. I found the The pool filter sand at Ace and going with that. Looks similar to the Jungle river sand from Caribsea. I think. All the wood will get a good scrub and it will be go time. Pulled a few plants out of the 75 to get me motivated. Also, I had some fish deaths that were surprising. And going forward, I'm going to shift fish choices more towards colder water fish. Hmm, make the 40 a Paradise fish tank! The sand was 10.99 a bag @50lbs each. Bought a total of 150lbs.
  11. I started my shopping list of plants. Already over the price of the tank and stand. Planting this sucker is going to be a slow process lol.
  12. That's bio film. Completely normal and just ignore it. It will go away. Shrimp love to eat it and other critters too.
  13. I see what you are saying. Maybe I'm trying to force that branch in. Maybe I will remove it and see if there's something else out there. Maybe a thicker alternative would be a bit better. Maybe I can find something that could act like a Dutch street.
  14. I'm going to try buce or finagle something. Moss is a lot of work once it gets going. So, I'm hesitant to go that route. I agree here. Maybe that piece won't work.
  15. Without CO2 injection, I would save my dollars and get a finnex ALC light. You lose the app, but gain the 660nm red. The 3.0's are just too over priced to only offer an app.
