  1. Attach wood parallel to the back wall or have the wood perpendicular or just protruding at some angle?
  2. I'm here to inspire needless money spending! 😆 Okay, I'm not crazy then. Yeah, just had a subtle sint. All the fish don't seem phased, so all seems good. I rinsed very lightly.
  3. Any thoughts on how he got the overhang? Some kind of perch or moss wall attachment?
  4. I've been thinking about what I want to dose for this tank and I think I will go with: 15N 4P 15K .4Fe However, I'm also going to raise KH to 1 degree. So, with the products I have, it's going to look like: 15N 4P 25K .2Fe (CSM+B) .2Fe (DTPA 11%) 1dKH (K2CO3) I may also raise GH to 5dGH @ 3:1 Ca:Mg
  5. I have a weird smeller since COVID, could be just me. It may just be the sand smell, that to me, smells weird.
  6. Plants arrived and attached a few. Have some attached to the floating wood upside down. Hope this wood saturates quickly. I'm going to have to redo the moss wall, going to attach most of the Trident to it. The Trident you see is just a resting spot till next week. And yeah, need more plants.....
  7. I'm changing the direction of the tank in an attempt to recreate this look. See picture. I'm use the Ace Hardware brand of pool filter sand. They have several options with varying colors. 1153
  8. If I have long pieces of epiphyte rhizome, can I cut them into sections and the middle section will grow?
  9. No deaths 😆. And I guess that Ember was playing possum, because he's out and about!
  10. Hmm, that's interesting with the CO2. I'm curious to know too. Joe is amazing. Hate that I refuse to even visit that one forum he's on.
  11. Yeah, we love it. It definitely had a sent, but the fish aren't twitching....yet.
  12. I can't imagine how much maintenance this guy puts in. Holy beep... The deed is done. Plants arrive tomorrow and my wood will take a month to sink 😁. The wife may have killed an Ember and I haven't seen my Apistos since this morning. Fingers crossed. Nothing is arranged plant wise. Just wanted to be done for the day. Also, the sand has an interesting smell. Hope I have fish in the morning.
  13. Subst Substrate swap and new plant direction.
  14. It was either or. They market it as an effective antibiotic when orally administered, sneaky they are.
  15. You all know I'm a Greggz fan boy so here's and updated shot of his tank. Look at that Cabomba..... https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/greggz-planted-rainbow-tank.68778/
  16. There's no debate, you want excellent agitation. You want to degass co2 effectively and inject effectively. I'll drop an article that will explain why you are having CO2 problems. Blackbeard algae has multiple triggers but I think the main problem is your CO2 instability. Also, using that CO2 chart doesn't account for other sources of acid in your tank. Nitrification causes acidification. NO3 is a weak acid and you must account for this acidification while using the chart. So based on the information you provided, I'm betting you want to see a pH of 6.1 to 6.0.. This accounts for the other sources of acidification in the aquarium. The ideal way to measure CO2 in the tank is to measure PH drop from a degassed sample to a fully gassed sample. The degassed sample is your baseline pH, and the gassed sample is the pH to subtract from the baseline. You are looking for a 1.5 to 1 pH drop from your baseline pH. I found that a 1.2 pH drop is the 30 PPM that I'm looking for. If I go higher than 1.2 then I start to see my fish stressing. Pay attention to the graphs and what's happening. https://www.2hraquarist.com/blogs/choosing-co2-why/how-to-push-the-limits-of-co2-safely I'll also encourage you to not use Glut, that stuff causes other problems besides getting rid of BBA. But if your tank is unindated with BBA, it might make sense to use it. Hydrogen peroxide is way more effective and way safer. This will sound counterintuitive but I'd also encourage you to stop doing gravel vacuuming if you are doing them. Basically just swirl the surface with your hand and try and get that up do not put the gravel vacuum down into your substrate and vacuum thoroughly.
  17. Can you tell me, or better yet, show the surface agitation of the tank?
  18. Are you looking to remove co2 all together going forward?
  19. Going forward, your can avoid killing your BB by target feeding your meds with Seachem Focus. So my modified trio is Ick X, paracleanse/General cure in water per trio directions.Seachem Kanaplex/Focus fed per directions. I then hit with fenbendazole at week 3 start.
