  1. Shrimp with eat their eggs forsure Since you are working with a larger aquarium itll be very hard for the new born fry to get enough food even if they hatch out.
  2. Just breed from what you got..and keep some of the shortfin to breed back
  3. It's sworttail but works the same. When I try breeding 2 highfin together I normally get very low fry count
  4. Yes its the same, that one reason I stop working with them
  5. Correct, but you want regular fin fish that is already carrying the highfin gene
  6. Those pigs will do their best to get every egg lol
  7. Not sure if you know this but breeding highfin to highfin create dead babies. Any babies that get 2 gene won't make it, so you'll have to breed a highfin to another fish that's not highfin but carry the gene.
  8. I wouldn't worry about it, most of all tetra flakes are the same its just a marketing game
  9. Solar panels still need to store the energy into a battery and still need and inverter to convert DC to AC
  10. I have thought of that before when I first bought this setup, just never got around to it
  11. I only use this setup if the power is going to be off for more than 12 hours. I also use this setup for other reason also. I use 2 deep cycle battery connected to an 100w inverter ( doesn't have to be 100w for the fishroom) With that setup I can run my Diaphragm Air Pump 96 LPM plus charge my phone for atleast 7 hours..draining it just down to 50%. Deep cycle battery should only be drain down to 50% to be on the safe side..20% is the lowest itll go before it lose its voltage. I thought I share since I had to bring it out yesterday for the storm
  12. When and how to cull is 100% up to you. Every breeder have their own goal/breeding program. I cull all of my fish at 6month other than my rosy barb. I keep very small number of breeder or back up breeder due to space. So everything else is call culls. There are good culls..fish that are healthy, great conformation, ect... but don't meet my breeding programs or goals. These can be sold or given away. There are bad culls...fish that are unhealthy, bad conformation, ect..unhealthy fish need to be put down, bad conformation fish can be your feeder fish. None of these should leave your system. I don't trust ppls won't breed from them.
  13. I would drop the pairs down to 2 pair. Foursome reason your aquarium looks to clean to be breed fish from lol
  14. Roseline shark, that's when I was still talking to the breeder that bred the gold roseline.
  15. I know breeder in Thailand add hormone to get some of the harder species to spawn
  16. I'm abit later to the party but I got to show off some clouds
  17. I'm not 100% sure about that since livebearers breed almost everyday right? I have seen wild shiner spawn and itll trigger other species to join, but most of the time it's a fast stream so whatever is in that water is already downstream
  18. The only time I heard about adding hormones into the water to get fish to spawn is when they are working with a species that is hard to breed or won't breed in aquarium, like roseline shark..
  19. My hardest lesson I learn breeding fish is..knowing when to stop, knowing my limits
