  1. Sailfin Gudgeon or Microphysogobio tafangensis breeding project So this is just another cold water fish I wanted to add to the fishroom. Not much information on the net, so lets learn and grow together. So I order 2 pair to work with costing me 80$ each import from China Here's 1 of the male Heres 1 of the female Currently they are living in my display 33long with an aquaclear 70. They seem to like carnivore pellets over veg pellets. They enjoy hiding under rocks if there isn't any dither fish. So far I have 10 fry ....
  2. I had the same problem earlier year of breeding rainbow shiner..they was very bad picking up bacteria infection. Now my line maybe more inbred but seem to do better in home aquarium setup
  3. Get a decent school and it should help. They act up when the school is smaller
  4. Itll be a good little bit before they can eat bbs. I normally raise my fry up with their parents
  5. That's correct, that is how I bred mine also..but my males was very aggressive towards each other. I haven’t found a trait I want from them enough to want to breed them again
  6. You got snail so I wouldn't worry too much about over feeding. They are too small for anything other than fine powder food. I normally keep my fry with their parents so if you have to introduce them I would wait atleast 4 month and make sure the parents are full with food.
  7. I seen this in my koi and comets, it's normal cause due to stress. I would add salt and get him back to normal, it should go away
  8. Correct..I raise white cloud in still water pond before and they do great. Bred 100s from just 2 pair within 4-5 month Rainbow shiner need higher DO. They can survive in warmer water as long as the DO is high. I caught some from very warm pool of water but it right next a a cool running stream.
  9. I would keep them under the shade if you aren't going to run any pump. White cloud is easy..just fill it up and add the fish in 2 week later, plants is 100% up to you.3-5 hour sunlight is more than enough. Rainbow shiner need a cooler setup and more oxygen. If you are planning on breeding them you'll have to watch everyday and catch when they spawn. They don't really need any plants since they aren't going to use it. . I have kept them outside under freezing and most survive for the next year
  10. That's correct in theory..for example "If" you have a 50/50 chance of getting golden..theres still a chance you may never see one. If you flip a coin 10 times will 5 times always be head and 5 always be tails?..not really So the lower the percentage your chances decrease alot
  11. Golden is a recessive gene so you'll mainly get normal white cloud in the mix..some will carry the golden gene
  12. I'm just gonna flood this with photos and update on whats going on, maybe some past breeder photo also. Enjoy Let's start with my red line, these are just normal fin. As they age they got redder and darker. Only kept about 2 males and 3 females. Donated the rest so a buddy and school teacher This male is from my older line where they kick out fish that will start carry the blue all the way to adult. Dark body next to the blue is harder for me to do, normally with blue the body lighten up. One of my breeder from a few years ago. Yellowtips
  13. I believe Dan's on getgills got some longfin right now..not sure on the quality tho
  14. I have seen alot of nice traits, I just don't have the room to work with everyone. This year I'm rebuilding my longfin line back up and breeding my regular golden. Since I already have the golden longfin gene in the fishroom I'm not worry about them to much, their time will shine again next year.
  15. I have sold some on getgills early this year..but they aren't where I want them yet.
  16. Could be a broken jaw or locked jaw with and bacteria infection coming out. I would treat with salt first and see how he do
  17. Young fish have been spawn regularly. Since they are so young they havent pick up the dark red body. A close up on the eggs
  18. Just wanted to share some updated photo of some of the breeder
  19. She's egg bound, how many males do you have?
  20. If both are skinny ..female will have a longer white belly vs males. I recommend starting with your best 2 pair
  21. Yes you can target feed them, but it's harder. You'll have to make sure they eat enough 3 to 5 times a day. Always recommend a 10 gallon about 75% filled and 2 pair
