  1. I have cherry shrimp in my endler tanks. The adults do fine but baby shrimp must be eaten as the numbers don't grow
  2. I have 7 tanks of different colored hrimp in planted tanks. I put down a 1/2 layer of EcoComplete and then an inch of standard aquarium gravel. I find any color shrimp easy to see when the tank lights are on.
  3. I have three community tanks (55, 29 and 29) and between them probably at least 30 different fish. What fish do you find are the hardiest in your community tanks and which ones do you find aren't. I have good luck with: any type of cory catfish, rummy nose tetras, cardinal tetras, tiger barbs, clown loaches, angel fish, glass cats, red eyed tetras, angel fish, pricilla tetras, bristle nose plecos and diamond tetras. What don't do well for me: silver tip tetras, ember tetras, mollies, dwarf gourami, and kuhli loaches.
  4. one inch of eco complete and one inch of pebble gravel works well for me
  5. If you intend to breed them I have had the best luck in a tank with no fish. Any fish will prey on the baby shrimp. Also, it is very important to drip acclimate them if you are moving them to a different tank.
  6. I have three community tanks, 55 and two 29, All are heavily planted and heavily stocked. I feed in evening when I get home and skip on Sundays. I feed some pelleted food and some flake food at each feeding. This has always worked for me. Also a couple times a month I hatch out some baby brine shrimp and feed that.
  7. When I first kept MS's I learned the hard way that if you give them an opening big enough they will crawl out and die
  8. Dosing your tank with a product that adds live beneficial bacteria may help
  9. As long as the shrimp are healthy and have good color it should be fine.
  10. I have eight tanks w RH snails. They keep things cleaned up and yes they do reproduce. When the snails get big I crush them up and feed them to my fish. Recycling them as I say.
  11. Get the SF going then take your dirty filter media from HOB and squeeze in in the tank water a couple of times. Run both for 2 weeks then remove SF. You should be good to go.
  12. pH 6.2 Nitrates 50 Hardness 200 Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 KH/Buffer 0 Water Temperature 76
  13. I don't know if someone could help me with this or not. I raise Endler fish. I have had a couple of the large females die recently. The had enlarged abdomens and appeared to be pregnant. I cut them open to see the babies but instead discovered that the had fluid in their abdomen. They are in a tank with several other adult females that also appear pregnant. Any ideas what this might be?
