  1. We have hard water definitely I'll test it though when I have time after work I used spring water for the last water change with the last ich treatment because I didn't have any that had sat long enough for the chlorine(that probly contributed to the ph drop I just thought of that)to dissapate and I got them from petco ya the tank is a little small and I didn't like that I wanted a 10 gallon but this was all they had at walmart at the time I was going to get a slightly bigger one this weekend and have this one for a hospital tank but I was doing a complete change of the gravel because the ich was so bad and the gravel I had hurt one of my shrimps leg I did add aquarium salt as well last week
  2. Once in a while when they are in the current of the filter one of them has trouble all the fish came from the same shop but as I said before I have no idea really about swim bladder disease except the general symptoms and I had added tablets to lower the ph a couple weeks ago(at the time the ph was at 8.4) but it held at 7.8 for the longest time did that throw everything out of whack
  3. The tank is 6.5 gallons and I know that's smaller than ideal but it's the only option I had at the time to completely change the gravel to something more ideal for the shrimp the Walmart gravel was hurting them(one had bits of his legs gone and I didn't have that issue before as well as trying to remove all ich)
  4. I've tried videos none of them will upload it says the file is to big I have 4 ghost shrimp and 3 silver mollies a platty and a blue green mollie with red on the tail( can't remember the specific breed)
  5. This is the fish I've been questioning I've had ich in my tank severely and it's trying to make a comeback now I know other infections usually happen after and/or during but have not had any experience with swim bladder disease before and is what I'm most afraid this is(basically I'm looking for the best alternative or see how aggressive in treatment I should be) I have treated them once for fungal infection per instructions on the ich treatment bottle but the bloating still persists
  6. I had to take everything out and flip it to find my fish(sometimes alive and they seam out sometimes dead and was dislodged I've been struggling with ich so I keep a daily count) almost all of them were somewhat eaten
  7. Bad news day 2 of lowering the temp the ich is back on 2 of the silvers fins slowly taking the temp back up should I do another round of ich treatment and if so what type would you recommend the last one I used had almost no effect
  8. That's the biggest problem I've never had fish hide during a feeding but the silvers do thank the shrimp for helping clean the mess but I have to make sure there is enough on the ground for the silvers after the others eat
  9. Finnaly got one of all 3 whites see what I mean about how much chunkier the one is
  10. That's why I fist posted this one of the silvers is kinda bloated and biting the other ones that come into the barrel and get to close but at the same time it might just be because it's a little smaller tank then would be ideal
  11. I just haven't been able to quite tell I'm pretty sure I have a mix of both
  12. There are 3 silver mollies the platty and I forgot the specific breed of the blue green mollie
  13. The white ones are camera shy so I might have caught the same ones on camera
  14. These guys are finally clear of spots and the red looks brighter them ever
  15. I've had dragon gobies(one of my favorites for freshwater) way back but I was young and misinformed so they didn't make it and I tried finding them again for my other tank but they are hard to come by and now with the smaller tank there won't be enough room for one but with the saltwater i got live sand called caribsea to help start everything and I knew gobies needed fine sand and it seemed to be a good option but I saw some places say deep sand beds could release toxins when the gobies are sifting about could the worms and invertabrets live in 2" deep (that's what I kept seeing for depth) and they could bury coral if I do decide to get that
  16. Thanks to both I thought it should be fine but wanted to make sure and as for being ready I know theres a lot of work(and money) into saltwater and starting with a 55 tank is a big jump(a leap of faith if you will) but in the end is worth the time money and effort my plan is to not even have the fish for a few months to let the tank cycle and start with just the live rock then move on to the next thing until the entire bottom of the tank is finished so as not to have to work around the fish and stress them and to make sure everything is done right Im only certain that I want to have gobies and the whole tank will revolve around what can live with them I'm just taking everything one step at a time to make it end happily
  17. They were in a 55 gallon I'm not sure if they are male or female haven't been able to tell yet but it's 4 ghost shrimp 4 mollies and a platty that survived I have just moved them into a 6.5 gallon tank( I know it's a little small but that's all they had at the store and I wanted to change the gravel to aquarium dirt to try to kill most of the ich eggs and for the shrimp) and to Daniel yes they were very inactive most of the time all of them were just resting on the bottom
  18. Before everything went wong my mollies were peaceful after vigorous treatment(meds, heat, and salt but still ongoing) for ich they are starting to chase and nip each other any ideas why
  19. I want to convert my 55 gallon tank to saltwater I recently transferred my freshwater to a new smaller tank because they kept dying from ich and I only have a 6 fish and 4 shrimp left how long should I wait after the tank has been drained and cleaned( I plan on cleaning it very well) to refill it without risking anything going wrong with the new set-up
