Fry are taking over my tank! All I have are zebra danios, panda Cory’s and a couple pleco. I am not trying to breed but seem to have a ton of fry. I don’t know what to do with them!

Anyone have good ideas how I can segregate the tidal 55 in my tank so the surface plants don’t clog the skimmer but it can still intake water? Need a partition or something?

Unfortunately, I am in Canada so can’t order from coop but would love to find local source.

I have a 29 g medium planted tank. Have 8 zebra danios, 6 pandas corys, a bristlenose and clown pleco. ph 7.5 temp at 76. would any shrimp work in this tank?

I’ve tried water lettuce and one other plant I can’t remember the name of and my fish seems to shred the roots and it’s just a floating graveyard of plant bits after a few days. I only have guppies and zebra danios swimming. There are few Cory’s and plecos in the bottom. I am assuming it’s the danios doing the damage? Is this normal? Is there a floating plant they won’t destroy?

@Rycraft thanks. Could you send me link to the sponge you got from AC? I’m in Canada so cant order unfortunately but I’d like to better understand the density. I don’t know the difference between fine and coarse sponge yet.

I am struggling with my Tidal 55 as well. So far I have tried sponge filling the bottom layer, then bio balls in a bag and some floss on top. This results in bypass within a couple days and this week nearly shut off flow. Water was coming out of the control knob! Today I removed a bit of the sponge on the bottom and left out the floss. Seems like not much mechanical filtration but I guess I’ll see what it does. I have cleaned the impeller and the filter is only a month old. Runs perfectly right after cleaning. any ideas?

I have a tidal 55 hob filter on my 29g tank. It has a bottom layer of sponge, then back of ceramic and filter floss on top. how often should I change the sponge and floss? side question, ever since I installed the filter the blue overflow indicator on the too is always showing. Even right after I clean. Any idea why?

I have had the tank about a month now and have been doing weekly water changes but no vacing. I have pretty good number of plants as you can see and am stocking the following in the 29g tank, 8 zebra danios 8 guppies (who have about 4/5 fry already) 6 Panda Cory’s one bristlenose one clown pleco here are my test parameters so far.

I’m super scared of over feeding as I’m brand new to this. I got some community plus and some bottom scratcher. I put in a cube about an inch by and inch but they were all still feeding on it a couple hours later. not sure if that matters? I feed once a day. I am rotating daily between flakes, pellets, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine, freeze dried brine, algae wafers and now repashy. everything but the repashy seems easy to control amounts.

Hi everyone. I am brand new. Set up my 29g tank last month for first time. Other than lots of tannins, it’s looking good. I have some guppies, zebra danios, panda Cory’s, and a bristlenose. Damn guppies are breeding already. I have fry and it’s not a month old tank! Found Cory’s videos on YouTube and am addicted. Anyway, wanted to say hi.
