  1. Bristlenose won't eat fry they will eat eggs I think Cory's could predate small fry
  2. Anubias is fine with salt at that level I have used 1 table spoon for 5 gallons with no issues to my anubias in the past
  3. Could be caused by a bacterial infection causing localized inflammation of the tissue looking at the redness to the tissue I couldn't rule out a cancerous growth what I would do is quarantine and treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons that will help remove any possible fluid buildup and do a course of maracyn2 in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days add an extra air stone during treatment active ingredient in maracyn2 minocycline also has anti-inflammatory properties and will treat any possible bacterial infections even with the treatment I recommended it might not recover if you think it's suffering or not responding to treat and getting worse then I would humanely euthanize it with clove oil
  4. You can use general cure as an alternative to metroplex that has metronidazole and praziquantel 1 table spoon for 5 gallons won't harm Javan ferns or anubias am not sure how tolerant porthos is to salt
  5. Swings in the pH caused low KH can stress weaken fish adding crushed coral will help you to keep a stable pH by raising your KH what I would do is add small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 10 gallons that will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes keep treating with maracyn at this point you just need to give the medication a chance to work he might be to weak to recover even with treatment
  6. That is used in conjunction with medication such as metronidazole and praziquantel in very small amount just adding Epsom salt to there food I haven't tried I don't think it be that effective
  7. It doesn't look like it's got any pineconing or bloating that could just be the angle of the picture have you got a picture from above looking down
  8. I use two nets one to direct the fish towards the second stationary net that I leave in the corner theres no alternative to metroplex in Canada that I can think of what I would do just the Epsom salt baths after the 5 days give an update or before then if it get worse or you notice any new symptoms
  9. What I would do is quarantine and treat with Epsom salt 1 table spoon for 3 gallons added directly to the quarantine tank or you can do Epsom salt baths 1 table spoon for 1 gallon for no more than 15 minutes for 5 days and do a course of metroplex in food feeding a small amount twice a day for upto 3 weeks
  10. How old Is the fish Any rapid breathing hanging out near the surface lethargy flashing spitting food out sunken belly is it eating ok the symptoms your describing can be caused by a number of things swim bladder constipation inflammation parasitic infection
  11. You can use liquifry no 1 for egg laying fish
  12. I would dose following instructions on the box under dosing will making the medication less effective and can contribute to antibiotic resistance the maracyn might resolve the issue on your other Cory
  13. A litter more information would be helpful what are your water parameters ammonia nitrite nitrate pH KH GH can you post a picture of the sick fish I wouldn't dose Epsom salt in the main tank it will affect your plants at the level needed and it will raise your GH I would quarantine and treat on it's own @The Doctor
  14. It's difficult to tell what's going on off with your other Cory off your picture maracyn is antibiotic treatment which can affect your cycle in a well established tank it rarely has any effect on your benefial bacterial I would just monitor your water parameters more closely during treatment @TheChunkyFish @Colu
  15. Looking at everything I think you need take a step back stop most of the medication as am not sure wheather the medication and salt have caused some of your losses and reassess what I would do is leave one dose of ick X in and let it marinate for week if your not seeing any ammonia or nitrite just feed them with frozen or live brine shrimp daphnia Cyclops micro worms and monitor combination of good quality foods and good water can do wonders after a week with no intervention give an update I no it seem counter productive to not do anything when a disease has been going on as long as this has sometimes its good to reassess things @tetra
  16. Can you take a picture of pink spots on your neon tetra and the sick Cory over dose of kanaplex can lead to kidney damage its difficult to say for sure if that the cause of the deaths any spitting food out hanging out near the surface weight loss
  17. Which ever sponge fits your filter I don't have any experience with hob filters I would feed once a day during treatment and add an extra air stone I would just test more frequently during treatment
  18. Active carbon will remove any medication you add to the tank so it's of no benefit using medication with active carbon in the tank so I would remove it and replace it with filter sponge it won't disrupt your cycle active carbon isn't of much benefit to your benefial bacterial most of your benefial bacterial is found on the substrate hardscrape and other surface's in the tank what I would do is remove the carbon and treat with levamisole once a week for 3 weeks and do a course of maracyn just in case there's a bacterial component you can add crushed coral to your tank that will help raise your KH and pH typically you you need one pound of crushed coral for 10 gallons
  19. Good to hear he's recovering
  20. Using more than 1 table spoon per gallon of aquarium salt can be harmful to some more sensitive fish like Cory's that could be what affected your Cory and neon tetra I would only do one course of kanaplex because of the amount of medication they have had I would lower the level of salt back to 1 table spoon for 5 gallons and increase surface agation
  21. Ich looks like a sprinkling of salt on the fins and body rarely on the eyes doesn't look like ich to me possible fungal infection epistylis can sometimes look like this when it form's a colony's and sometimes look like a fungal infections epistylis feeds off gram negative bacteria on the slime coat of your fish and spreads more quickly at higher temperatures the best treatment is a combination of maracyn2 in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days and ick x or salt if you can I would quarantine and treat them on their own what I would do is treat with ick X and a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallons if you seeing no improvement after a couple of days then I would do a course of maracyn2 in food and Keep treating with ick X
  22. When they flush the pipes you need to add at least 3x the usual amount of dechlorinator you can dose prime upto 5x the recommended dose in an emergency
  23. As the spot has a fuzzy appearance What I would do is add 1 table spoon for 2 gallons of salt for 1 week and monitor if it get worse then I would also do a course of kanaplex with the salt treatment
  24. One table spoon for 3 gallons is fine I have used that level of salt with my bristlenose plecos with no issues just make sure you dissolve the salt in a jug of warm water then add it to the tank
  25. High levels of nitrates can affect the swim bladder and immune system it's possible they were closer to 80ppm or it's swim into something in the tank and suffered an injury what I would do is quarantine lower the water level so it easier for it to right itself add an extra air stone and add some aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 3 gallons and monitor what I would do if your constantly getting high nitrates is add quick growing plants such as hornwort Elodea or floating plants such as water lettuce Amazonian frogbit red root floaters to help lower your Nitrates and do more frequent water changes
