  1. Love Odessa barbs! Gonna be awesome! Cheers!
  2. Some lovely internet person pointed out to me that Petco is doing their dollar per gallon sale NOW. Online. And if you do a online order and pick up in store, you get an additional 10% off. Just in case anyone here would be interested in some new tanks...Sorry if this is not the right place to put this.
  3. Whatcha gonna put in the 29g? I am mid-cycle on a 29 also, planning to start with some guppy grow outs while everything (plants) gets established, but eventually want an angel, some german rams or apisto, otocinclus, rummy-nose tetras maybe....Still plotting honestly. 🙂 Not sure quite yet.
  4. Squirt gun, loud "no", and, if you have fast hands, scruff him and put him in another room (exile), but also STAY CALM when you do it. Do not escalate the crazy, keep his front nails trimmed if he uses them. He will outgrow it. You are looking at crazy nutball from about 6 months to 2 years. What you don't want to do is get in a slapping match with him--they think it is a game of tag. Some people flick noses. I am not sure it helps, and could be overkill. Your mileage may vary. My cat was a crazy biter. Calm consistency works. He is also toilet trained, comes when he's called, sits for a treat, etc. Don't let anyone tell you they can't be trained.
  5. I have one inherited tank with them in the filter and would like them to be in one that has some extra small schooling fish--planning to try to establish them on purpose! My tetras just hang out at the filter outflow, waiting for treats, it is so cute, magical gifts! Also since I found out I am deathly allergic to blood worms, this feels like divine providence--a maintenance free worm culture that doesn't make my face swell up?! Heck, yeah!
  6. I live in an apartment and watch you all with jealousy. I have this window sill water garden, growing floating plants and daphnia for my guppies. They are greedy guts and I really need more space to feed them as much as I would like, but it is stable and pretty. The window gets morning sun only and the plants keep it from getting hot. I have to offload plants weekly.
  7. Hi!I When I was 10 I wanted a 10 gallon tank full of guppies and live plants for my birthday. Naturally, my father bought a 55 gallon and filled it with rocks and African chiclids. I was allowed to name ONE, and wasn't even allowed to feed them. Then he got bored and sold it a year later while I was at school. I have had a few tanks on and off over the years, mostly for children or husbands or boyfriends--they chose the fish and bought the tank, I kept them alive. This year, alone and bored, a friend who was moving rehomed a aquascaped planted tank with me that was on the verge of crashing. I rescued it...and kind of went nuts. I have 3 small planted tanks set up, with snails, red cherry shrimp, a few fish, a 29 gallon cycling, and 2 10 gallon quarantine (haha) tanks that will be repurposed into guppy grow outs eventually. Busy gleefully imagining my stocking list for the 29g. Let's see how many tanks I can cram into a tiny apartment... Thanks, Cory for helping me get connected--no fellow fish nerds in my local circle, but I am within driving distance of Aquarium Co-op!
