  1. They get pretty big... a friend gave us a 55g tank and it came with 2 blood parrot. I added cory's, Koi, crayfish, and snakeskin gourami. In my case they all did well together. Down side of Koi and crayfish is that they destroy plants. The corydoras do their thing at the bottom of the tank. I currently about 20 in the tank. Small Koi are nice but they will get really big. SO have a plan "B" for them. Won't be over night it will happen. I hope this helps you.
  2. Shrimp ... sadly I don't have any of those. I don't think I have seen any around in my local fish stores either. I can hatch brine shrimp so I should be okay there.
  3. We caught our cory breeding today. I have collected the eggs before the other fish could eat them. I currently have the eggs in a specimen container with an airstone in it, floating inside the tank to keep the same temperature. What should I do with them now? I saw people saying about adding an anti fungal solution, but not sure if I should. Looking for help on keeping the eggs heathy and the fry alive after hatching. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
  4. This is the one I am not sure what it is.
  5. I really like the ones I have and find my self wanting more. Which ones do you keep and which one is your favorite? so far I have Julii, Panda, Pepper, Albino and one other that I am not sure what it is. Maybe if I post a picture someone can help identify it.
  6. I ended up buying some frogbit and duckweed. I didn't like the duckweed too much but I have growing in a container. The frogbit I had to move into my 10g tank for now. My 55g tank has some small Koi and seems they eat plants.
  7. Here he is cleaning up a plastic plant.
  8. Well i dont think i will be making soup 😁. I am planning on making a pond in the future. I am guessing he would be okay in there?
  9. From test strips this morning I got 30 GH on both tanks. The 55g has one small plant attached to a small driftwood. The rest of the decor is plastic/fake. I do have alot of fish in there. Total of 23 currently. I didn't have time to do the liquid test but I did do the strips. 55g GH 30 KH 0 PH 6.5 NO2 .5 NO3 40 This tanks has been running for about 10 months and 2 months at current set up. I will have to test the tap water for GH.
  10. I went ahead and fish'd him out. He is about 5 inchs but looks bigger to me.
  11. @BlackLabelCarling wow those are nice. He is growing very quickly. The banana plant is cool too and the cory hiding behind it. Next water change I will try to get a better picture. He is growing very quickly. I was reading somewhere that only one pleco can be kept in a tank. Is that true?
  12. i asked for a pleco not knowing any better, but he/she is growing pretty quickly
  13. Do I have a common Pleco and do they really grow up to 24 inches?
  14. No I haven't added anything to the tanks. The 10g is holding at 7.6 pH and the 55g dropped to 6.4 pH.
  15. I went ahead and order some frogbit and duckweed. Tho the duckweed scares me a little from what I have see and read about it.
  16. I have a 55 gallon and a 10 gallon. On Sunday I did a water change to both tanks. I tested my tap water and gives me a reading of 8.4 hP. I used Fritz Complete to treat the tap water before adding the new water into the tanks. Maybe 30 mins after adding the water I tested the pH again and got a reading of 7.6 in both thanks. This morning I tested both tanks for pH level. The 10 gallon is the same (7.6) but the 55 gallon is at 6.8. I find it odd the drop so I did some more testing. Ammonia 0.25 ppm Nitrite 0 Nitrate 5.0 ppm Should I be worried about the hP dropping like that?
  17. I have a 55 gallon tank and would like to float some plants in it to help me control nitrite/nitrate. I have 3 crayfish in the tank so I can't have any live plants at the bottom for now. Any recommendations?
