  1. I would be comfortable having them together then - also shout out to Cory's "Med Trio" - if you haven't seen before. I have had good success with it. Link - https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/faqs/how-to-use-quaratine-med-trio
  2. I agree with @David W - sometimes we just lose some. I have had a couple pygmy corys not make it, and everything else was stable - and continued to be afterwards. Just keep an eye on things for other issues, and if nothing pops up - don't stress.
  3. Unless they are coming from the same place - quarantining them together could spread something to the others that one type might not have. Also I believe that you would be fine with those 7 fish in there, just monitor the water and possibly have to do more water changes to keep them happy.
  4. Definitely update us when you get back - interested to see if they survive on the moss/green water - and if they do...what they turn out being.
  5. I have had success with this floating box from Petco with guppy fry. The only word of caution with it is some of the smallest of fry could possibly squeeze through the crack if you are quick to move it around, or "lifting" it. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/imagitarium-isolation-and-breeder-fish-tank This could be a cheap option to get you started until getting anything nicer.
  6. Hey - welcome to the forum! Did you breed these or have you just been growing them out? Also do they all have a bit of fin issues, or are you only seeing it on 1 fish?
  7. I bought a tetra tank once from Petsmart - and never found a lid that fit it.... even their own branded ones they sell. I ended up having to make one. Will never buy one of those tanks again - Live and learn
  8. This is great advice - and that is how I feel also. It's not something that will make me rich, but if there is a way sometimes to cover costs in a hobby I enjoy spending my time on either way - might as well. Just gotta not get the hopes too high sometimes.
  9. Thanks for the response - I never thought about the big box stores taking fish in. Definitely could help in the times you have a few too many guppies.
  10. I appreciate it - the spare parts website is a good idea! Amazon definitely seems to have them, but priced closer to replacing the whole lid it seems. Thanks again!
  11. Will your LFS only take certain types of Guppies - for example no mutts? or will they only do trade?
  12. I had a similar situation happen with one of my guppies - and sadly it didn't recover either - I lost it after a couple of days of those symptoms. Hopefully you can save this one!
  13. Thanks! That is all that I have found so far as well - seems almost the price of buying a prefab lid (depending on the size of course).
  14. Anyone know where you can buy the hinge like what is on a normal prefab lid?
  15. I have never tried those myself. If you give it a shot make sure to report back on how it goes!
  16. Thanks! Always good to have a real tested review for reference!
  17. What size hygger pump did you get that you have had success with - I want to get one for gravel vac'ing and adding water back in.
  18. Looks great! Good job! Definitely better finished.
  19. What type of tetras would you recommend with the apistos as dithers that wouldn't be able to eat eggs/fry? I have always heard pencils are best, but haven't found any good ones yet.
  20. I would recommend something like first bites or baby brine (live or frozen) for the first bit before nano pellets or crushed up flakes - and I have also found having them in a smaller breeder box helps no only protect when needed but helps them find food easily instead of searching a much larger tank. Best of luck on the next batch! One thing about guppies is you will have more within a month or so.
  21. Would it be better to try and pull the pair to a separate spawning tank, and then move back to the community tank - instead of pulling the fry out? I am wanting to try Apistos soon also.
  22. I have used a fry tank inside my main one - and it also seems to get dirty fast, luckily it circulates the water from my full tank so I doubt they are in much risk, but I try and clean out the waste almost daily when I have a fresh batch just to be sure.
  23. Good to see some Georgia people out there - I live in North Georgia.
