toothgrinder
How long have ya’ll let your fish go without food? I’m on short trip right now and they’re all going roughly two days with no one watching them. It’s my first time leaving them like this I’m curious if others leave their fish for a couple days or more at a time? Everything I’ve read says it’s fine, in fact some people would rather not feed the fish for a week than trust someone else to feed.
OceanTruth
Less than a week, I wouldn’t worry about it. I would only worry if I had fry I needed to raise up.
Struggle
I’ll go seven days or so without feeding when we’re out of town.
MAC
Rest easy, friend and enjoy your trip. Your fish will be fine a few days without food. Just go back to normal feeding on your return.
TheDukeAnumber1
I've gone two weeks before with goldfish, feed them well for a while before the trip, make sure they aren't going to get too agressive with eachother and things should work out. But this is what auto feeders are for 🙂
FrozenFins
I have left my fish alone for a week at the most with no food. Yes, they were hungry when I came back but they were all still doing well even the small tetras. You shouldn't worry about 2 days with no food they will be just fine. Keep in mind fish don't just eat the food you give them but other micro organisms like algae.
FriendlyLoach
Yeah, in the wild fish will go quite a while without food. You should be fine.

Andy's Fish Den
I've left my tanks for over a week without any feeding. When I am going away for more than a few days I feed them heavy for a few days before and then the day before I leave do a 50% water change. Calvin
I left mine for a week over Christmas, they were fine and I noticed a dramatic decrease of my tiny snails when I got back 👌🏻
JaredL
I find it entertaining to see fish behavior change when you don't feed them daily. They actually start foraging and moving around parts of the tank they normally wouldn't. As opposed to just sitting mid-water waiting for the next meal to fall on top of them.
