I have never kept anything that looks like that in the aquarium excluding some java moss. It doesn't look like java moss though. Thanks for the input! OceanTruth
Looks like moss to me, but it's kind of hard to see from the pic. I have some type of moss in one of my tanks and I've never bought moss. A small piece must have been stuck to another plant I bought and just grew until it was noticeable. Just like "pest" snails I appreciate the gift. Lol.
Streetwise
Can you take a photo with the filter off?
Levi_Aquatics
This is the best I can do without messing up the tank. Sorry @Streetwise
Streetwise
Those photos should help with identification. I’m away from my computer for proper research, but I bet someone will name it shortly!
Marnol D
Possibly could be Fontinalis antipyretica or possibly christmas moss Edited February 1, 2021 by Marnol D 1

Fonske
Looks similar to the moss I found in an old, not-planted tank when the tank leaked and had to be dismantled. The moss was hiding under the filter so no one knew it was there. It stuck very firmly to the glass, took quite an effort to pry it out. I decided that a plant willing to grow in my water must be given a second chance, so I tossed it into another tank. Later, the small initial bunch of the moss threads grew into a full-floor carpet for two tanks. I also asked for the ID here, and declared it to be Christmas tree moss, because why not :)
