FrozenFins
Has anyone had any luck with the Tetra Pleco Wafers? In my experiance it only clouds up the water, my pleco won't even touch but will instead eat my beutifal driftwood. I'm wanting to switch to the NLS Algae Max Wafers, does anyone have any experiance with this food? do your plecos like this food?
Administrators Cory Posted November 30, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 30, 2020 In my opinion, the hikari algae wafers are the best. Tetra is low quality and hard to get fish to eat. the NLS are really high in spirulina, most bottom dwellers prefer more meat.
Maggie
I bought the Tetra brand too, when I got shrimp, with no luck on my new otocats - they refused to eat any even though there was no algae in the q tank (I had to use spirulina powder as emergency until repashy arrived, and they did eat both of those). The shrimp eat the Tetra wafers so I can at least use a few of them until the expiration date (I set open food at six months).
Pete
My platy fight over the Tetra algae wafers, and my mystery snail and shrimp will eat it. My otos and flag fish are apathetic toward them though.

Hobbit
I use hikari algae wafers in my community tank, but only maybe 1/6 of a wafer at a time. My loaches eat it once they’ve eaten all their other food. I’ve never seen my otos touch it. My gouramis will take a nibble every once in a while. Can’t say about a pleco though.
