Hey guys! My names Anson and I’ve recently gotten into the hobby as of December 2021! I started off w/ a 10G w/ three Moscow Guppies so live bearers have had my attention ever since! Since then I’ve moved the Moscow’s to an outdoor 55G pond, and upgraded to a 20G Long! I now have an nice group of 6 Albino Blue Topaz culls from another hobbyist in residence! As someone who is insanely introverted, this hobby has made me want to talk to people more & overall want to build more relations. Thank you Cory, and the rest of the team over at the Co-Op for all the great advice and the hours of company your videos provided haha!

Awesome! Aloha. This forum is a very nice community.

Lovely aquarium. Moscow Guppies are top shelf.

I’ve been missing out on this forum! Thank you for the kind words! I truly lucked out given they were my first ever purchase! A trio of Snow White Moscows for $20 crazy! These guys don’t even look real in the pond!

I am breeding a bunch of guppies — snakeskin variety, some with “dumbo ear” pectoral fins. I’m calling them “Precious Metals.”

Those colors are so lively! What are you feeding by chance?

Inside, I feed: (1) live freshly hatched baby brine shrimp (2) Bug Bites flake foods — all varieties (3) frozen Daphnia, Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Blood Worms, and Mysis (4) MISC dry foods including ACO Fry Food, Onega One Flakes, New Life Spectrum Flakes, and algae flakes

Outside, I feed next to nothing. They eat loads of insect larvae. Every few days I add live BBS.

I think @Fish Folk is feeding Summer Tub Grub (AKA bugs the land in the summer tub😜. Your Moscows should look stunning coming out of your mini pond.  Post some pictures when you get a second.  We’d love to see your set up.

I have a 100 gallon tub with goldfish.  Not breeding them, just keep them for looking.7A695658-DF92-4017-B3E5-08EC4A54C2A0.jpeg.9c1a555e78133f4f5006ebbe00b168fe.jpeg

Haha I figured! Can’t beat the price point if you know what I mean! I’m in love with your pond setup! You did lovely work tying everything together, my favorite part being the center planter being the same shade as the brick! I’ll get those pics of my pond uploaded as soon as weather permits it! (It’s been raining like crazy here in Hawaii in the mist of “Summer”) LMAO

Your tank is absolutely stunning! Do you plan on breeding the 6 in the 20? Well not plan since they'll do it regardless...but are you going to be raising any fry you get?

How often do you feed the ones inside? And how often do you give them live bbs compared to the other foods? Lastly how long do they typically take for you with your feeding routine to get to easy sexing size and how often do you do water changes? I have about 12 fry in a 20 long and I've been feeding them frozen bbs that I hatched and froze myself about twice or three times a day, trying to go up to four or five. I think they're growing pretty nicely but only color I see is on their tails and they all look like females.

I feed Guppies inside two times a day for 6x days. On Sundays I do not feed them at all.

I feed BBS approximately every other day for one feeding of the day -- AVG 3x BBS meals per week. All other meals are different entrees.

If you bump up the temperature of young guppies to 80-F, they will grow much faster. On the other hand, adults will deteriorate sooner and die. I do keep mine warm. I typically can see early signs of sexual dimorphism by 3-4 weeks.

I change water at least once, about 50%, every 1-2 weeks.

I completely forgot about the temperature thing...definitely going to bump it up to that over the next couple of the days, thank you so much!

Welcome to the Forum @AK Aquatics!

Yes, Cory does a wonderful job helping introverts and ambiverts *want* to join in conversations. I really like the culture he and the Co-op crew have fostered in the forum. Great mods, too.

Your guppies are gorgeous! Team live-bearer here, currently have 5 inside tanks of endlers, plus a patio pond (and turtle pond of endler and guppy culls), and a tank of guppy endler hybrids with a lovely tiger pattern.

I also have tanks dedicated to scuds (amphipods) and snails, and 2 different shrimp tanks. In the process of putting together a 4' NANF tank that *was* purchased to be a scape tank, but @Fish Folk shared some videos of NANF and now my Patient Spouse™ is hooked. So, the dining room tank will still be beautiful... with breathtaking breeding colors of NANF, lol!

You joined just in time to take part in Nerm Week 2022, so come join the party!

Hi AK Aquatics! Live Bearers Rock!!! So far I have dalmation mollies and a mix of sunset and red wag platies. My mollies have given me two batches of fry, I'm so excited! the second birthing  was just Saturday (my boss's birthday!) I'm thinking of naming them the AL babies.

I love your Moscow guppies. Have you had any fry yet?

They sure do! In the picture above are my Albino Topaz Guppies who are just about a month old! As for my Moscow’s the “trio” I ended up buying were all males so I’ve been on the hunt for females ever since!

Ok.... now you've done it!  What a BEAUTIFUL ROCK.

My goodness. I don't think I've ever seen a lava rock that had that much character and aesthetically was so nice.  Wow.

Question, have you ever kept any corydoras before? Considered adding any to this tank?  I think there are some species of cory that would look amazing in there.  Maybe habrosus or the black ones like what I have.  Pandas of course, but I'd lean towards false julii over them.

Thank you haha! It’s definitely a very unique rock to say the least! All the little crevices are screaming for some Anubias! As for the wet cats; they were the reason I upgraded from a 10G to a 20G long, but during the cycle I had second thoughts due to my pearlweed carpet I’m intending on growing out! How do you think they’d fair with a WIP carpet? I’m already replanting at least 5-6 stems a day with these guppies haha! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That's definitely what I did with mine.  Anubias nana is about the right size. I saw someone, they took a rock and did a ring of anubias around it to make a wall with the rock peeking out.  Very cool idea and it looked pretty awesome.  BUT NO! Don't h ide the rock!  It's too unique. 😂

Mine do pop up plants, but honestly, if you have room and they have cover, they will do fine and won't tear up the tank at all. they tend to explore, and they tend to move around, but they do spend a lot of time resting, relaxing, hiding, and when they are active they are usually around the tank itself.  Given there's guppies, I would think they tent to stick towards the bottom, making actual cover pretty important for them to have a place to hide out.  Plants can definitely provide that as well, I usually use wood on top of rocks to give that to them.

Maybe they aren't deep enough?  Plant weights?
