  1. The stand only has 4 points of contact with the ground. Is there a specific thickness the shims would need to be? This is the stand
  2. Hey guys, I got a stand for my 20 high but since it’s on carpet it wobbles a little bit and that doesn’t sit right with me. I want to know what I can do to fix it as quick as possible. Please ahh knowledge will be helpful.
  3. Have you had any problems with it being wobbly? I set mine up and put the tank on it and it’s a little shakey which worries me.
  4. Hey guys, my family's gonna be moving and I'm going to be getting a room so my tanks won't have to be in the basement anymore. It's a pretty small room though so I would like to utilize space as much as possible. The tanks coming into the room with me would be a 20 long and a 20 tall. I would like to find a good stand for both tanks, one on the top and one on the bottom. Any suggestions or advice would be deeply appreciated.
  5. Thank you! I have so I’m just waiting for a response, either for a replacement or refund. For the meantime I have an ACO sponge filter working.
  6. I did what you said but it’s still making the noise and it’s really annoying. I think I’m genuinely over ever using canister filters, too much mechanics.
  7. That’s so weird because in the fluval video for some reason they said to make sure it’s above water to prime and then back under when you turn it on. I’ll go try your suggestion and let you know if it works, thank you.
  8. Hey everyone, I did maintenance on my fluval 407 canister filter this past Saturday and when I put it back together and plugged it in, there was a rattling noise being made that was really loud and the flow from the outlet was just stuttering. I then unplugged it and tried to prime it again thinking that might be the issue but it kept making the noise. I did it yet again and this time it stopped making the noise or so I thought. Came home from work the next day to it making noise and since I had work the next morning I didn’t have time to try fixing it so I just unplugged it. On Monday night after work I plugged it in again and still same noise so unplugged it. Today I didn’t have work so I tried figuring out the problem but to no avail. I’ve only had this filter for 7 months now and about 3 months ago I had to order a new impeller and ceramic shaft since the previous one got broken during maintenance. So I don’t see why it’s making the rattling noise. Today I thought I’d gotten it to work since for about 3 minutes it was working perfectly and silently but then the noise began. I’m at a loss since I spent a lot of money on the filter and right now I don’t have the funds to buy another one so I just contacted their support to try to get a refund and just get a hob filter. Any help or advice on how to fix it will be really appreciated.
  9. That’s salvinia minima! Didn’t know they went by that name. Do you dose anything in that tank?
  10. Oh I’ve seen that in Irene’s video before that’s really smart. Okay I think I’m going to give frogbit and the red root floaters a shot at the same time and see if any work for me. I’ll definitely create a corral and make sure the water level lets the hob drop a bit. Thank you for the advice!! Sadly lost a clown killi yesterday when doing a big change in the tank. Have no idea where it is but can guess it jumped out as I was taking out plants.
  11. I thought it’d be the other way around, doesn’t dropping it make the water coming out push the plants under the water and creating a mess? Do you mean easy green?
  12. What did the hobs do to those plants that it doesn’t do to the salvinia? Do you have a good light for the red root floaters or do you dose some ferts? I tried red root floaters in the past but they didn’t work out for me especially since I had a very cheap led light that came with the tank.
  13. I want floaters for my clown killis since I know they love that and I just moved my lily to my other tank so the only things on the surface for cover are my Val’s leaves. I don’t know what floaters to get though. I was thinking frog bit since they seem big enough to not get pushed into the water column by my hob filter. But I know their roots get really long and don’t know if it’ll be too long for my 20 tall. So either duckweed, frogbit, salvinia or maybe red root floaters even though I don’t have a high light type of light.
  14. I’ve experienced this too. A lot of my Pygmy cories have died unexpectedly but I’m guessing it could be because of the school size, maybe they’re not comfy enough? I really have no idea but I’m going to be adding 15-20 to my 75 and I’ll see from there if they still die unexpectedly. One of them died with its fins slowly deteriorating which I’m guessing was fin rot but I couldn’t setup a quarantine tank and also couldn’t medicate the whole tank. So I just kept the water clean with water changes and it actually stayed alive and thriving for about 2 months before it passed away.
  15. I moved my lily to my 75 gallon but I can’t get it to be situated because the roots are heavy and it’s taking a lot to try to put them in the sand. So could I cut them off and the bulb regrows them?
  16. Hey y’all, I’m doing a big change over for my tank and moving all the plants around. I have a lily in my 20 tall and I just pulled it out to move it somewhere else…this thing is huge guys. The root system was all over the tank so now I’m thinking it may be too big for the tank and I should just move it to my 75 instead. Here’s a picture of the rootsIt keeps being upside down but trust the roots are gigantic. Any advice? Still got lots of stuff to do with the tank
  17. You don't have to be sorry, I've been busy with life too so don't have as much time to be on here and the fall semester is about to start too. That's awesome! I might get away with 20 pygmies then since they're teeny tiny...
  18. Came back from work and there’s 8 more fry…any ways I really need to start recording dates of when things happen or when I should be doing things because I’m bad at remembering stuff. That’s why right now I have no idea how old my fry are. Maybe I’ll buy a hob for that tank and take out one sponge filter for that increased flow. I rarely check my nitrates but I definitely should. All the glass tubes from the API that I had have broken so I need to buy replacements. They’re very fragile and break super easy
  19. Ahh gotcha. I definitely want to give breeding them a try but I’m waiting on my 20 long to be freed from my guppy fry being grown out.
  20. Did you put your getrudae in a breeding specific tank? I have them in my 20 tall and no they don’t school more like shoal. I have a hillstream loach in my 20 tall and it’s at 74-75, its has been doing well as far as I can tell. Might take the temp down to 73 but not sure yet. Do you mean the black neon tetra? But the live/frozen requirement does make them an iffy choice Glass cats do seem cool but I’m not that interested in them for some reason. What pencilfish species did you keep? My flow can’t be too strong because of Mr grumpy, my honey gourami, he prefers slower flow but my flow isn’t crazy slow though, it’s just more at the outlet of my filter and less elsewhere so he stays either in the water column or if he’s at the surface towards the inlet. They look to be about regular activity level so definitely keeping them as options
  21. I’d rather put dwarf rasboras in my 20 tall as part of my shy guys tank with my clown killis, I’d go for the chilis, I’m not that like specific about the schooling, I’d even like some fish that just chill by themselves that don’t need schools like dwarf cichlids or like a peacock gudgeon.
  22. Are yours super duper active? Like would they be more active than my rainbowfish? I like the dwarf rasbora but find the cpds really pretty to watch.
