Recommend a fish!

I’ve got a 29 gallon that has been filled about 80% with Java moss until a couple days ago. Now that it’s gone, the tank looks pretty empty. I’ve got a pair of apistos with some juvies, a couple BNs, a school of ember tetras and a SAE. Looking for ideas to add.

Any substrate? I like how Valisneria looks along back in my 29 gal.

if you can find a nice, healthy pair of Electric Blue Rams, they’d be pretty in there.

I’m setting up a cold water 29 in the next few weeks. Matten filter on side, powerhead behind matten, forcing water up to spraybar. I’m planning on Saffron Shiners and Darters (maybe Rainbow or Banded).  Lots of Val along the back.

I think you need a center piece fish.  Something large an mid-swimming.  Honey Gourami, angelfish etc.

@Fish Folk suggestion is great. My 29 looks odd without really tall flowy plants. Others to consider anacharis or aponogeton species or even a lily or lotus. Here are 2 versions of my 29 Maybe it will give you ideas.

Good guess! That's a U.S. Native. The Banded Darter. Males go quite green this time of year. Here's mine from a photo taken today. I call him "Hulk."

They have an under-developed swim bladder, so they stay close to the ground like gudgeons do. Mine eat frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, live mosquito larvae, and other live food offerings.

@Fish Folk stunning!  If I did not have so much going on fish-wise, he would right at home on the lawn in my 20 tall

How about a single Electric Blue Acara (maybe a trio?) Showy but gentle, do fine with your tetras. I was considering them for my sa community 75 too. I've been enjoying the ones Mark recently featured on MD FIsh Tanks.

or tall wood helps balance the height too!

I dig the species only tanks and having more of them in the tank to see how they behave socially.  Having two in there, even some corys or something, shouldn't upset the tank too much and give you the variety.  I dig where you're going with it.

My angels already purged the tank.  He he he
