  1. well one task down. I found somewhere that will take the fry if/when I get over run. Also found some hornwart at the place that said they would take guppy babies.
  2. picked up some hornwart and a narite snail and put in my tank before work this morning. I will post pictures soon.
  3. my amazon sword keeps coming unplanted and wanting to float. can I safely attach it to something to hold it down in the substrate?
  4. I have a betta in with my guppies. I was considering adding indian almond leaf as tanins is good for the Betta from my research so far any ways. Would tanins be good for the guppies as well or would it harm them?
  5. @Beardedbillygoat1975 thank you and those are some beautiful guppies. Thank you for the advice. I am hoping it won't take too long for me to at least be able to start setting up to breed.
  6. where are you located if I may ask.
  7. I added a sponge filter and volcano bubbler to my 10 gallon as well as another trio of guppies.
  8. I have been trying to find guppy grass and no one seems to have it around me. I am going to be ordering hornwart soon.
  9. yes at some point I would like to create a strain. I don't know if I will be able to get to that point though
  10. Thank you. I just got the tank set up and cycled only 2 plants in so far. but seems only 2 or three fry had survived the night. they seem to be hiding in the stems of my amazon sword and java fern
  11. well I woke up this morning with a few guppy fry in my 10. I am currently looking for a larger tank not so expensive. at the moment I probably need to get a small breeder box to keep the few remaining fry from being eaten. was not expecting them so soon after getting them in the 10.
  12. how to keep floating plants out of hob filter? I currently have a trio in my 10gal. but plan to expand when I have room so can breed
  13. Ok so I have realized I love guppies. I am wanting at some point to start breeding guppies. Any advice would be appreaciated. The one youtube video on the subject I watched so far suggested using a tub and not having a filter or heater. I am thinking it is best to have the filter and heater even if using a tub. When I get ready to start I will do a journal of the process and progress as I breed.
  14. Don't feel bad. accidents happen. I boiled my 1st batch of fish and burned the heater up in the process. I bought a 10/20 gallon heater for my 10 gallon tank and didn't read the instructions 1st (stupid mistake) thought I had to turn it on and turned it up instead and was too hot for the tank. heater still semi worked (I guess) I turned it down water seemed ok. got another batch and the heater stopped working and they died over night :(. Now I have a brand new heater with a digital thermometer built in 😅
  15. well someone already got it. I will try for a bigger tank later I suppose.
  16. it is a free 30 gallon hexagon tank and stand with filter and top so thinking of getting it if still available.
  17. can a tank that was previously used for salt water be cleaned up and used for fresh water?
  18. thanks guys. That will likely be my next venture then
  19. ok I don't expect that I would be able to use it for fish but I just wanted to ask the question in case there is a way to safely clean it to be used for fish. I have my bearded dragon in a 40 gal tank. My fiance is thinking about getting her an open front enclosure so I was wondering if it would be possible to to clean the 40 to use for fish at some point? If not that is fine. I will let it go to someone who needs it for reptiles but I figure if I have it I may as well use it. TIA, LilOne
  20. after having a heater go out and my fish die. My tank finished cycling (which yes I forgot needed to be done before adding fish). So today I got a live plant to go in. My dragon stone says it has been delivered. and I got food for my narite snail that is still in there so he doesn't starve. Giving it another week probably before adding more fish. I am looking for guppy grass to go in but to no avail so far.
  21. I have been reading on here and one post said Cory advised to add an air stone to tanks. as betas come from calm waters would it be a good idea to add an air stone? perhaps in one corner of the tank so the betta has most of the tank with calmer water?
