  2. All, just got my first 6 otocinclus from aquahuna. they all seem happy and healthy, not huge about 1 inch. whats the best way to ensure they get enough food? The tank they went into had three green walls, and i have algae waffers. Am i good?

  4. i just siphon out used fish tank water into 1 gallon milk jugs and use that to water house plants and the plants on the back deck / front porch. They have never looked better.

  6. got my 100 gallon going this week. threw some extra shrimp in, medaka pearl galaxy ricefish from aquahuna. (1 day shipping from washington to ohio). I went with straight pond plants, picked up some hardy lillies that should surive winter and water hyacinth
  7. happy to help. If the shrimp were new to the tank it is super common for a water parameter change to cause a shrimp to molt early even if pregnant. luckily a female can get pregnant almost immediately after the babies are let loose. so you are sub 30 days from babies with the same lady (assuming you have male and female)
  8. bringing this back up to encourage more discussion, i am curious in this as well. the easier the better, i like the options wtih battery to my pump runs all night.
  9. water volume is your friend. The more water the more stable your temps will remain.
  10. Siphon it out with a airline tubing if afraid of fry, or a large 1/4 inch tube, easy peasy. All my siphoned water goes into milk jugs to water my wife's plants on the back deck.
  11. Crushed flake food, floating pellets, and bbs. they seem to be happy as i am continually rasiing up fry.

  19. I have a cheap freesea heater off amazon. I woudnt trust it with fish, but for a hatchery it works great. Low cost cheaper = low risk usage of it.
  20. Shrimp come out free swimming from mamma. Mamma hold them till free swimming. Sometimes shrimp molt and drop eggs, or they scrap them on something and drop eggs. Dropped eggs arent likely to yield shrimp unless they have appropriate water flow to keep them from molding, hence mama fanning the eggs herself.
