    @Colu quick question:

I'm on Day 5 of the first treatment & I'm still seeing fish flashing.

Is this  normal or should I be considering using something stronger like the Cloverleaf Absolute Wormer Plus?

    Thanks in advance!

it you will usually take two weeks before they stop flashing

I have heard some people say to just leave it and thatbtheirs was just fine after a year and a half, eating healthy whole time. Some people said theids went away after 2 months. Should a reasonable aprouch be to just wait? See if it is growing? Ill keep you updated every week is a good plan? I have bad time at comparing stuff and normally it's just placebo.

If it looks like  the picture then it's more than likely neon tetra disease I couldn't rule out a bacterial component neon tetra disease is spread when an infected fish dies and your other fish eat it and ingest to many pleistophora for the immune system to handle and it becomes overwhelmed they can have neon tetra disease for a long time it's only when I period of stress that weakens there immune system that you start to symptoms they usually died with in  two weeks of showing symptoms it can infect angelfish danio rasbora barbs guppies goldfish other tetra species it best  is to remove any fish showing symptoms to a quarantine to prevent them getting eaten if they die in your tank two options monitor or you can  do a course kanaplex and salt just in case there's a bacterial component and it's not neon tetra I can never be 100% there always a possibility some else is going on @NikkiRae I use to recommend kanaplex in food before a vet told that it is very ineffective and can damage the gut flora in your fish

  3. Looks like an injury  I would add some Indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial and antifungal properties you might have to add one leaf per gallon to get a beneficial effect if you notice it getting worse then I would do a course of kanaplex @Maximus

  4. Looks like a snout chondroma that's caused by neon tetra disease  there's no treatment currently available he's a picture for comparison @oogabooga

I had a fish with the same thing and feeding kanaplex with focus cured it.

I wouldn't recommend kanaplex in food as very little of the medication is adsorbed by the intestinal tract so it's not a lot gets into the blood stream your better off dosing the tank with kanaplex maracyn2 is much more effective in food @NikkiRae

  5. Metronidazole isn't very effective at treating ich you ick X or kordon rid ick plus or  seachems paraguard I would also add a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 10 gallons as ich causes massive electrolyte loss and the salt will add back in essential electrolytes just remember to only put back in what you take out so if you do a 10 gallon water change put 1 table spoon of salt back in as salt only removed though water changes @Confetto

  6. Could be caused by an injury I would add a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 6 gallons at that level most plants are fine and add some Indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial and antifungal properties you might have to add one leaf per gallon to get a beneficial effect if you notice the eye start to swell or any Reddening then I would do a course of maracyn @Mattlikesfish36

Blackout for the first 24 hours or whole treatment since I've been told 24 hours. And I'll do my best with this, thanks. I am concerned about the archers since in the last week of expel p treatment they have not wanted to eat and have been acting more flighty and upset so I'm a bit heasitant to continue for so long but ill give it a go. At least for 1-2 more weeks.

Just for 24hr till you do a water change to remove the medication if you are dealing with internal parasite it can take a minimum of 4 full courses of treatment with levamisole you could try adding a small amount of garlic guard to there food to try and simulate there appetite try feeding some live foods such  black worms daphnia

Only major loss of appetite and lethargy for both of the archer fish to struggle and die from this over the last 2 months.

the others spat out food once but that’s when I treated with expel p which is normal from what k understand.

What I would do is treat the tank the archer fish were in with three more courses of expel p one week apart after 24hr do a thorough gravel vac to remove as many eggs and expelled parasite black out the tank during treatment as levamisole is a light sensitive medication

Perhaps it could be some kind of digestive blockage? Maybe this could be linked to the yawning, the lethargy, the lack of eating, but not obvious wasting?

What are you feeding them and how often

Perfect. I will get a gram weight later today and start treatment in a treatment tank. I do have multiple filters, but they all run 1000lit/hour. I will find a way though. I think that I can build a filter and re-use some of the filter cycled media

Just to be clear, you would only treat with Funox - does this mean no salt?

I would also use aquarium salt alongside the funox

  10. First your angelfish could had over production of the slime coat that can be caused poor water quality a parasitc infection such as flukes. If it were flukes you would want to treat with prazipro every two weeks for 4 full courses of  treatment so you would treat on week 1 week 3 week 5 week 7. You can also get the symptoms you described  with Grey patches on your angelfish with chilodonella and costia. he's a picture for comparison. for that you would want to treat with malachite green and formalin active ingredient in ick X. gills red Gills on your Tetra's can be caused by ammonia burn cholrine or  Gill flukes. your Otto looks like they had a bacterial infections could be columnaris that's a gram negative bacterial infection that spreads more quickly at temperatures over 75 and can kill in 24hr to 7 days depending on the stain. the most effective treatment I have found is a combination of kanaplex and jungal fungus clear fizz tabs containing nitrofurazone following this treatment plan. The other dead otto in the bag that could be postmortem changes depending on how long its been dead in your first microscope slide. am not sure that's microsporidia in your second slide it looks like fish  waste he's a picture of Gill flukes for comparison if it's moving it could be fluke's it looks like fish waste to me the third slide could by chilodonella am not sure. @NikkiRae

  11. High levels of nitrate can weaken the immune system leading to secondary infection I would do extra water changes and add a double dose of prime to help detoxify any nitrate till it constantly stays under 40ppm

  12. Its more than likely stressed if your lights are to bright do you have plenty of plant cover if you don't have floating plants I would add some that will make it feel more comfortable when I kept a pair of pearl gourami's years ago they were very out going I had lots of cover for them and they even spawned a couple of times

    Thanks!

    3 follow up questions

    1. The active ingrediends of the Funox powder that I have are (p.g.) 0,33g Nitrofurantoine (is this equivalent to nitrofurazone?) and 0,33g Oxytetracycline.
    2. How do i weigh 1gr of the powder? I have a mini scoop for some test set that require powders. Would that be 1 gr?
    3. When treating with antibiotics, do they also kill the benneficial bacteria of the filter? I ask, in order to adjust accordingly when setting up a treatment tank. Does it need a cycled filter or is an airstone enough, and do dailly water changes?

I would treat with funox  Any antibiotic treatment can harm your benefial bacterial I use a gram scale when measuring out  small amounts of medication you can get them cheap on Amazon I  have an extra cycled sponge filter in my main tank i can use in my quarantine tank and aways add an extra air stone during treatment as the medication lowers the level of dissolved oxygen

  14. It looks like an injury if the Redding got worse it could have developed a secondary bacterial infections if it has a fuzzy appearance it could have developed a secondary fungal infection what I would do is a course of yellow powder that should be nitrofurazone a broad spectrum antibiotic and add aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons that will treat fungal and bacterial infections just remember to only put back in what you take out so if you do a 2 gallon water change put 1 table spoon of aquarium back in as salt only removed though water changes you can  aquarium salt at most pet shops  @EggShappedFish

    Good Morning,

Good points, I haven't added any new fish in at least two months and have lost the snails, and 2 gouramis since then.

The water here is from a community well, chlorine is never added to it and water tests right out of the tap are the same as I quoted above with the exception of slightly higher nitrates, my thinking is that is because of the plant food added to the tank. I usually do not condition the water.

I will watch for sunken belly specifically. The fish stop eating and just get really thin overall. I did notice a worm emerging from one of the dead fish and treated the entire tank with Expel-P exactly as they say to use it. The entire tank has had only that one full course. I have also used Expel-P in the quarantine tank this last time for the sick gourami even though she didn't show any signs of parasitism.

    Thanks for the reply.

I would add that overall the tank is in excellent shape. The fish that are in pairs are regularly spawning, including the cories which surprised the heck out of me!

With what you described I would treat all the fish with expel p it can take four course of treatment one week apart active ingredient in expel p levamisole can be harmful to snails so I would remove them before treating so you would treat week 1 week 2 week 3 week 4

  16. That just waste your seeing your the transparent shell nothing to worry your KH is definitely to low for guppies and mystery snails what I would do is add some crushed coral to your substrate you will have to add one pound of crushed coral per 10 gallons I think I read a while ago that some iron based fertiliser can be harmful to snails I would do some more research before using it @Myrium

  17. Could have ripped it on the plastic plants they can be sharp or it could have been the start of fin what you KH GH low KH and GH can cause a lot of health issues in liverbears

Okay, I have Ich-x arriving Monday. In meantime I will get the second air stone and give the current meds a chance to work. If they haven't resolved things by Monday I will use carbon to clear the meds, do water change and try your recommended treatment.

When adding salt, is it okay to dissolve in a small container of tank water and then pour the mixture over the tank?  Also I read I should account for water displacement from sand/decor so would treat for about 30-35 gallons of water rather than 40. Is that accurate?

Dissolve the salt in cup of warm water then evenly distribute it over the surface of the tank you can dose for a 35 gallons to account for wood and rocks

  19. First thing I would do is add no new fish till you have determined the cause of the death and effectively dealt with problem couple of questions did the fish start to show theses symptoms just after a water do you use a water dechlorinator like prime when doing water changes have you notice any sunken belly white stringy poop how many course of expel p have you done on the main tank @GailLaForest
