  1. Whitmore's disease is very uncommon a little more information would be helpful what are your water parameters ammonia nitrite nitrate pH KH GH temperature filtration picture of the fish will help with a diagnosis and what symptoms are you seeing to suspect whitmore's disease

    Ok sounds good!

I treated with ICH X last night.

I will leave it in there for a couple of days.

If flashing continues, I'll do a 50% or larger water change, add carbon back into my filter for 24 hours and then dose Prazipro.

Does this sound like a good plan?

Yes that good plan you need to do a minimum of three course of prazipro even if they stop flashing to kill all the flukes

  3. First thought was mycobacterium that really common in rainbow fish that what could be going  on looking  at the pictures or it's developed a secondary bacterial infection after injuring itself I would  do a course of kanaplex  and jungal fungus clear fizz tabs containing nitrofurazone following this treatment plan for more severe bacterial infections @ange

Yes I believe it has gotten bigger. Maybe more dense looking, if that makes sense. Could it be an internal parasite? From what I can tell, it seems to be in the meaty part of the fish.

As it's internal and not on the surface that rules out columnaris I have seen similar internal masses there not caused by a parasitc infection it won't spread to your other fish treatment options there's not a lot i could suggest other than monitor for now

I did add aquarium salt as I thought that would help.  Does it really make the Copramine more toxic?  and would that explain why using the normal freshwater dose is not working because I have added the salt?

Salt can cause  a reaction with some copper based medication that why I wouldn't recommend using the two together I don't no if that would effect the concentration of copper when your testing

Thanks for the information. I have the kanaplex on hand. Just ordered the jungle fungus clear. It will be here friday. I have been watching this fish for awhile now. Like 3 weeks this gray spot has been visible. Pics don't show it but sometimes it looks like it is inside the body? But that could just an illusion. Its active and eats everytime food is offered.

    75 gallon tank

    Water parameters

    Ammonia 0

    Nitrite 0

Nitrate 5-20 API master test kit I cant tell the difference in the oranges in that range

    PH low 7's

I dont test gh/kh. I have really soft tap water. Like 40ppm Tds out of the tap.

If anyone else has any ideas, post them up.

If it's been going on for three weeks very unlikely to be columnaris that would have killed your fish by now can you try and get a better picture

  7. That odd that the level of copper is falling so quickly  what I would suggest is getting ick X and aquarium salt and treat with both aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallon as ich causes massive electrolyte loss and the salt adds back in essential electrolytes and ick x don't use salt with copper based medication it can make them toxic in some instances @cichlidx80

  8. Could be columnaris that's a gram negative bacterial infection that spreads more quickly at temperatures over 75 and can kill in 24hr to 7 days depending on the stain the most effective treatment is kanaplex and jungal fungus clear fizz tabs containing nitrofurazone following this treatment plan if you have shrimp in your tank I would quarantine any fish symptoms as kanaplex and jungal fungus can be harmful to them and treat with medication I recommended I would check your water parameters just in case something off @Buttchinart

The video I saw today was this:

(kinda loud music in the background, warning, keep the volume dow)

albinism is caused by autosomal recessive gene that causes pigmentation changes and is extremely rare in wild fish as to your  question hopefully some more knowledgeable will have the answer genetic isn't something that I have researched

  10. It might be a nasty injury it could body rot I wouldn't recommend Melafix it's only effective as mild antiseptic treatment at best and can be a Gill irritant what I would do is a course of kanaplex it's a broad spectrum antibiotic treatment and you could add some Indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial and antifungal properties you might have to add one leaf per gallon to get a beneficial effect @Phoenixsw

  11. It could be a bacterial infections api general cure isn't effective at treating columnaris one of the active ingredient metronidazole does treat aeromonas that a gram negative bacteria most effective treatment for columnaris i have is  kanaplex and jungal fungus clear fizz tabs containing nitrofurazone following this treatment plan  fry are more sensitive to medication so I would a course of kanaplex and add some Indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial and antifungal properties you might have to add one leaf per gallon to get a beneficial effect keep a close eye of your water parameters and add an extra air stone during treatment@Zeaqua

@Colu I've been feeding the metroplex for two weeks. Hes acting a bit less shy and is eating more aggressively but he still looks the same.

Given the length of time and and fact he hasn't responded to treatment it could be organ failure causing the pineconing unfortunately if that the case the outcome isn't good you could do the last week of metroplex to honest I don't think that will make much of difference at this point

  13. Is the white spot on a fin ray if it is it could be a callus that's formed on a broken fin ray doesn't look like it has a fuzzy appearance what i would do is add some Indian almond leaves and a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallons

There aren't any spots on the fish, It's all bubbles.  When I get home this evening, I'll get a better picture without any bubbles.  His mouth will open about 2 or 3 time rapidly every 20 or 30 seconds, but I don't see his gills moving in rapidly.  I've always thought he was being a little picky with food.  Since we got him, he will swim around rapidly, like normal, for food, he'll eat a piece or two then spit it out, then actually eat another piece and so on.  I didn't mention those things before because I didn't think much about it until you asked the question.  We feed all of our fish a combination of Extreme Krill, Nano and Spirulina and frozen BBS and freeze dried BBS once a week each.  We didn't quarantine him when we first got him.  I ordered the med trio today, so hopefully I get it in on Thursday.

Spitting food out and loss of appetite can be a sign of a parasitic infection  another possibilities is it's colour change is down to nerve damage though it swimming in to something in the tank that very common in rainbow fish if you can get some better picture maybe turn off the air stone when taking the picture

There are at least three shrimp infected. I'm pretty sure there was only one shrimp with a visible infection before I started the treatment. It seems like it just showed up today or yesterday on the other ones.

There are three amanos in the tank and the H2O2 seemed to stress them a lot more than the cherries. Would they be okay with 3ml per gallon H2O2? Should I just isolate all the cherries? Are they probably all infected already?

Am not sure if that level of hydrogen peroxide would be  safe for amano as there different species what might be safe for your cherry shrimp might be harmful to your amano I would quarantine any cherry shrimp showing symptoms and treat especially if there stressed by the the lower dose of hydrogen peroxide

  16. Are there any spots on the fish or are is it all  all bubbles in the picture any rapid breathing hanging out near the surface lethargy flashing spitting food out @RyanR

They didn't seem thin, but also not like their stomach was full. Essentially what came first was lethargy, then rapid breathing, loss of balance & spitting all food out by that point. Occasionally would be able to swim normally for a few mins but would go back to laying down/spinning. No stringy poop & no flashing. Rummies are acting normal. I made the unfortunate decision to humanely euthanize it, as in my experience any fish at that point tends to pass away pretty fast but uncomfortably. Under the microscope I did not find any flukes.

I placed the last angel into a planted 5 gal to reduce food competition, and hopefully reduce disease spread (if disease is the issue). He looks and acts very normal. I was thinking that with adequate food & water the issue might go away on its own, and if it does return I could place the angel back into the qt tank. Would this be fine?

With spitting out food lethargy that can be a sign wasting disease I can't say for sure that's the causes if they already weak when you got them and they were getting out competed for food  that would also make then weak and cause a reduced feeding response if it were wasting disease you would want to treat with expel p active ingredient levamisole once a week for 4 weeks what I would do is feed small amount of food three to four times a day to gradually build them up if you notice no improvement or they get worse then I would treat with expel p

Was worried about full doses of all three meds at same time. If that could be causing issues. Other than that????

and can you prophylactically treat for ich??  Especially for rummies?

Methylene blue and salt at that concentration shouldn't have a negative effect on angel fish I don't recommend preventive treatment for  ich if your fish  don't have any visible ich it's just a waste of medication and is unnecessary stressful to the fish  exposing them to medication when they have been put in a new tank  if you have individual that were already weak the medication can push them over the edge

  19. There's not a lot to go on sound like there becoming weak that could be to illness lack of food can you post some pictures of the angels were they thin when you got them  did they have a sunken belly any rapid breathing hanging out near the surface spitting food out flashing   white stringy poop @Gliderzz

It was always just the one shrimp

For some reason I thought it was more shrimp affected if salt baths  don't work I would try treating in your quarantine tank with a higher dose of hydrogen peroxide 3ml per gallon other than that there's not a lot else treatment wise i could recommend
