@jwcarlson So i finally think i have their tank in good shape, they had been pretty much laying on the bottom but now the one has kinda relagated the other to this skull, and they r constantly pecking at each other...is this a good sign they r both males?

@jwcarlson I actually think now its the strips themselves bcuz the pads alrdy green before i even dip it in water...what test kits do u use? I thought about either the api master test kit or aquarium coop test strips? What would u recommend, and also what dechlorinator do u use?

@jwcarlson i am rly starting to think its false readings, i did almost 80 water change on my 10 gal last nite, and this morning the ammonia readings super high. Same as on my 55 gal. But im not sure what else to do

@jwcarlson Tetra dechlorinater and i have aquarian ammonia remover...i jst did a gravel vac and partial water change and used the dechlorinater and ammonia remover...

@jwcarlson i am using the tetra 5-1 and tetra ammonia strips... So in the goldfish tank the nitrates are around maybe 40 and the ammonia was like 3.0... These fish have been in the tank tog like 4-5 wks??

@jwcarlson I tested my goldfish tank again today and the only level elevated is the ammonia...nitrates r rly low n i have 0 nitrites. If it was food degrading wouldnt the nitrates be high to?

@jwcarlson Its 5 goldfish, the biggest maybe 4 in wakin. 3 small faintails and a smaller comet. A decent size pleco that im not sure i rly want lol, and 2 corys, plus some snails i jst got. Its a 55 gal

I think they have def. sliced the tank in half. one stays in oner corner kinda n the other the opp side...when they do come tog theyve been mean. I moved the frog into a tote cuz he cldnt handle the elevated water temp, was freaking out. And honestly im gonna prly take him back were i got him, it wld be a lot of hassle cleaning his tank from eating worms. But on another note, my goldfish tank thats had stable levels for atleast a wk now, has high ammonia?! I jst did a biggish water change 2 days in a row so im curious what the ammonia is coming from? I havent changed feeding habits but its beem 3 wks since i gravel vacced there tank?? Ya i have a feeling these rams r gonna be hard to keep but they r so beautiful! If these dont work out, im gonna get a bigger tank for a group of yellow labs

So ive observed the one ram being rather mean to the other one, is that a male female thing? I did a 60 water change n gravel vac. im done feeding the clawed frog worms until he has his own 10 gal next wk,.

So i can tell they werent acting right, so i tested n ammonia was rly high but the other levels were good...so i treated w an ammonia remover and not even an hr later they r active n moving around. They r just the most beautiful fish so i had to try...i am going to do the gravel vac an water change and i have to leave the frog for now, im jst gonna stop feeding the worm Oh and i have 3 java ferns in the tank

So i may have inadvernantly created a major problem...last wk i had to move my clawed from to a 10 gal and began feeding him half worms, and now temp there r 2 rams in the tank. Well they werent acting right n it turned out to be the ammonia level...ive treated n changed part of the water but i stirred up the gravel and the tank is so full of worm pieces!! I know thats why the ammonia is spiking, and i jst need the rams to survive for a wk til i put them in there new home...any advice to combat ammonia??

I am adjusting the tank on the fly, which isn't good but I jst loved them! I researched n saw the water temp diff so I've got it around 76-78 rn...he was gonna get his own 10 gal neway, but the frog will be moved pretty quick.i think the pH was to high for them also, but I got it lower

Water parameters : nitrate 40, nitrite 0, 75 hardness, 0 alkalinity, 6.8 ph. I need to do a vacuum clean, but I noticed a film on a few fish so I treated w jungle fizz tabs. Do a partial tom n vacuum

1st morning ,and they found a corner to hide in. I knw they ate last nite when I fed a little, but not this morning. I found them in this corner...I have my heat up at 80, water parameters r good for what they like...I don't know this fishes behavior, is it normal for them to hide like this? There is a frog on here for another WK or so, but he gets a piece of worm every other day.

So my son noticed that r pleco has like patches of white on him, not sure what it is?? U can kinda tell in the pic, that's under uv light

I wasn't going to do this, basically Im to shy but I dnt need to show myself :). I've been posting on this forum, showing my 55 gal goldfish tank but today's post is about my new pair of German Blue Rams!! So rn they r in a 10 gal by themselves, but they r going to be moving to a 29gal within 2 wks. There is currently a clawed frog in the 10 gal, but they only need to live tog short term. I have never kept cichlids in my adult life, so any advice wld be nice :). I am going to try n post in this journal a lot, because I have plans for many tanks and may e breeding, not sure...

I have a solitairy hillstream, i believe hes a reticulated...but nehow he cruises around the whole tank. I plan on getting more of them, they r rly cool fish! I dont feed mine nething special, ive had him for a month and hes lived on the algae in the tank.

I got red worms n chopped a piece of and he's eating it!! I had to put it right in front of him, but once he was in it, it was over!!

@NOLANANO Ya i love fish, im super enthusiastic rn... I plan on a 75g for my goldfish, maybe yellow labs in the 55g and im gonna have 2 10g going, but one has jst a frog rn and it might have to stay that way. Eventually, i wanna have many tanks, and i plan on trying to breed something, maybe goldfish, i love my goldfish!! This is my wakin i got from petco for $10!! I see similiar sized ones going for $50+!! Crazy, are they that rare??

@NOLANANO Thank u for the advice...I have my 55 goldfish tank and a 10 gal that only has a frog in it rn. Im not completely new to fish, ive had tanks my whole life. The coolest tank i had was an oscar and cichlid tank that we fed feeder goldfish. Yes maybe im moving to fast, but i jst fell in love w the hobby. I honestly have plans to setup atleast 1 more tank, bigger than my 55, atleast a 75 or 125... I knw i shldnt have the pleco, i jst saw him and was like Yes hes perfect!! wo rly thinking about where hed be living. I want to take him back but at the same time i dont, hes so cool!! And i think my goldfish tank is cycled but i know i cld still run into problems. I jst need to fig out what im feeding the frog now... And this is why i post on here, i love getting feedback and advice!!
