  1. So i had to make an audible and take my claw frog out of my goldfish tank, i believe he was attacking the goldfish. The only other established tank i have right now is this 10 gal...So now i have my claw frog in the 10 gal by himself but id like to now what kind of fish could go in with him? I wanted danios and a betta but now im not to sure...i am kind of going crazy and buying all kinds of tanks, so honestly this is prly a temp home for him...also i never see him eat, what kind of food does he eat? I bought frog pellets when i got him, but ive never seen him go for one??
  2. @jwcarlson yes it is the same tank. I did 30 percent water changes for 7 days and now i have 0 nitrites and the nitrates are in the safe zone. My ph is good and my water is low alkalinity. @NOLANANO i believe it is a common pleco, that is about 8-10 inches long. I feel rly bad for him rn cuz he doesnt have a lot of room to swim. He basically has stayed in that spot in the picture for wks. he move around at nite and now yesterday and today he is just laying on the bottom, im rly worried something is wrong. I know he eat because ive seen him eat the wafers at nite. But the fact that i dont see any visible algae concerns me. You would think after having fish in the tank since the beginning of Aug that there would be?
  3. @NOLANANO I feed an algae wafer every nite cuz of the size he is and he usually eats them. But last nite when i got home he was jst laying on the bottom instead of the glass and he ddnt move all nite until this morning when i fed the fish....My snail was on his back to up in his shell but now hes cruising around the tank. So im not sure, i just dont want a pleco that size to die, so im trying to figure out what to do with him. I wanna keep him but i knw his quality of life rn isnt very good, until i get a bigger tank
  4. So ive had fish in my tank for 6 months and there is no visible algae growing? I have a rather big pleco that kinda was acting wierd last nite into today and my trapdoor snail wasnt moving around this morning, he was up in his shell. im worried my algae eaters have nothing to eat...i dont understand why i dont have any algae growing?? Water parameters r perfect to, so im rather confused
  5. @NOLANANO No i have very good swimming lanes in the tank, so i rly dnt c that being it. Idk i made the decision and moved the frog lol. Im not even sure if the frog had been eating, i never saw him and i would drop frog pellets in at nite but the fish cld of been getting them.
  6. I did some research and decided to put him in his own 10 gal for rn
  7. So im sure most on here have seen my posts about my goldfish tank...well this morning i was looking at my Wakin and he has a ton of scales missing on his one side ( a few diff spots were u can def tell there r scales missing). I dont notice it on ne of my other fish in the tank, and he is the biggest goldfish by a good bit. Would it be the large pleco in the tank or one of the other goldfish, or is it some disease i need to treat? Thank u in advance for any advice, i love this forum!! I also have an african claw frog in the tank, but he rly isnt that big...but r they aggresive? I have another tank i cld put him in...
  8. @jwcarlson i rly like the octagon but like you said not much room truelly...i may be buying 2 more 55 gal setups that arent octagon, so i may have a few choices for homes...i was thinking of doing a more natural looking tank, with wood and plants.
  9. I currently have my goldfish in my 55 gal octagon, but they r moving to a 75 next month. I want to do yellow labs, but I'd like to offset them w a fish that is black( I am from Pittsburgh) lol...ne good tank mates for yellow labs that r black??
  10. @Fish Folk yes this is my goldfish tank currently.
  11. This is my java ferns I planted in my tank 2 wks ago...but u can kinda c in the pic, it's starting to grow babys at the top of one or 2 of the leaves, and from what I've seen, that means the plant thinks it's dying?!? I currently do not have ne easy green, but it's on my list this wk. Do I just leave the plant be and hope for the best??
  12. Nitrite levels r very low n stable now, all other readings r good. This is my hillstream, think he found his new fav spot! Those r maybe 2wk old Anubis, from aquarium coop
  13. So i have recently setup my next tank, which is jst a 10 gal but i want it to have a betta with some celestial danios and 3 corys....my question is, do i add all the fish at once?? its gonna be 8 danios, a betta and the corys... Do i add the danios and corys and wait for the betta, does the betta go in first or can they all go in together?
  14. @Galabar yep that is my filter...when i gravel vacced 2 wks ago, i changed the bio bags but not the sponges
  15. I have a tetra whisper advance 30-60... it has 2 filter cartridges and the filter sponges that came with the unit.
  16. This is my reading after another 30 percent change and 30 min wait....nitrite is almost under control and my nitrate level looks rly good ya??
  17. Thank u everyone for the help, i love my fish and just want to be able to provide a healthy enviroment
  18. How do I know my tank is fully cycled? An yes Corey And Dean r my fav yts, I've learned a ton!!
  19. @quikv6 so could the algae waffers be elevating the nitrite levels?? I did another about 30 percent change today and tested the water 30 min later n the level is down around 1.0 now id say, so i am making progress... i just need to keep this tank going until i get my 75 gal for the goldfish next month
  20. @Tanked this is my first experience w a large pleco, and he is a rly cool fish!! he is in a 55 gal octagon rn but next month i am getting a 75 long to put him in
  21. @jwcarlson i have a tetra whisper advance 30-60 on it
  22. thank u @jwcarlson!! I am so glad i found aquarium coop and these forums!! I have a 75 gal long lined up i am buying next month, and my plan is to transfer my goldfish and the pleco to that tank.... There r a total of 10 things in the tank rn, the only mature thing being the pleco. I know my fantails r gonna get huge and live a long time, part of the reason i got them :) I am struggling with my nitrate and nitrite levels, i just added live plants a few days ago and im hoping it will help. I was doing wkly water changes but my nitrite level was to high today, so i need to keep changing water until i get it down i guess?? I am not new to fish but i have a diffrent love for them now, and just want my tank to be healthy...if u had to pick what to take out of my tank, what would it be? becuase i actually have a new 10 gal i jst setup n cycled but its waiting for fish...was gonna be a betta tank but idk now...isnt the bubbling from the bubble stones i have in the tank??
  23. I bought this pleco to be my main algae eater n basically ur saying hes not really and algea eater once he gets bigger?
  24. So i dont currently have ammonia test strips but they r on my list, but i do have an ammonia treatment i used a little of when i noticed the nitrite level this morning. last wk right after i did the gravel vac n water change all the levels were rly good. waited exactly 7 days n did my change today n the nitrite is outta whack. also my water is cloudy rn, which makes me think it could be mid cycle. my other question is, if im doing all these water changes during the cycle will it mess things up? I am not totally new to fish, but ive never cared for them the way i do now!! I am using a Tetra 30-60 gal filter with to cartridges...but when i did my gravel vac last wk i changed them!! I ddnt know i was getting rid of things i needed, i thought i was helping!
  25. So i may have screwed up....so i had fish in from beginning of aug til begining of dec. when they suddenly died...i aquainted it to overfeeding and did a gravel clean n water change and added these fish, 5 goldfish and the pleco. so they have been in the tank since the wk b4 xmas... i have been doing like 25 percent water changes once a wk, and last wk i did a rly good gravel clean because my nitrate levels were rly bad. The nitrate level is good today, i did my water change n tested the water and the only thing out of wack is the nitrite....
