Dan
Awhile ago Corey mentioned he likes cemex lapis lustre sand. He posted the link for Home Depot but they say they don’t carry it. Anyone know where to find it?
Fish Folk
You could look into this retailer: https://www.whitecap.com/kleen-blast-cemex-lapis-lustre-sand-60-100-lbbag-55289#195907-433LL60

DSH OUTDOORS
Better get it while it is still available. Quick google search brought this up... https://www.montereyherald.com/2020/11/14/closing-the-cemex-plant-the-sands-will-be-shifting/

Anita
Oh dear. Apparently Cemex is being accused of removing sand from public beaches and damaging the coastal habitat with their mining operations. https://abc7news.com/monterey-bay-sand-mine-accused-of-damaging-coastline-in-scientists-say-removal-causing-major-erosion/1969078/
Tanked
If someone had told me a year ago that there was a worldwide shortage of sand, or sand Mafias, I would have asked them if they were self-medicating. https://www.dw.com/en/sand-crisis-shortage-supply-mafia/a-56714226
Eric R
I find that HTH pool filter sand from ace hardware stores is affordable and looks nice. I have no experience with the cemex sand.
madmark285
FYI, below is a picture, starting on the left is Quikrete play sand, quartz pool filter sand (Sidley brand) and Sakrete play sand which is not recommended for aquariums. I plan on using the pool filter sand.
bryanisag
Has anyone tried using other brands of sand that are also kiln dried and graded? Home depot has another brand of sand by basalite that is kiln dried and graded. 7 bucks for a 50 lbs bag. It's mesh 30 but I don't know if that's large or small. What size was the lapis luster sand that Corey likes?
