PlaneFishGuy
Got my stand built and into the second week of "fishless" cycle. Looking forward to adding plants and my driftwood (that's been in a bucket for 4 days and still wont sink)

FrozenFins
One thing That helped me a lot when tryna get my drift wood to sink was to make it sink. Push it down every day further and further until it hits the substrate. One day it will semi-float (fully in the water but not touching the substrate) and then the next I push it down and it completyly sank.
Betsy
Very cool!!! Rimless tanks look so snazzy! Good luck with the driftwood! I've glued rocks to the bottom of some of my pieces...and piled rocks on the top of others...it's tricky to get those suckers to sink sometimes!!
Toobit67
Did you boil the wood at all? it helped mine sink...

PlaneFishGuy
im going to give the boiling a try and see how that goes. Thanks for the advice
PlaneFishGuy
Im learning patience lol....Im getting this tanks set up and Ive obsessed over pH and chemistry, engineered a stand that could hold a truck, I've researched light, plants, fish, substrate....and now I cant sink a log. I guess if it was easy It wouldn't be fun!
Dawn T
Beautiful stand! I love that distressed look on wood. Truly gorgeous. 🙂
PlaneFishGuy
Thank you @Dawn T Its a 2x4 frame like you see on a lot of the DIY fish stand videos cased in big-box store shiplap. The great part about the distressed look is it hides my carpentry mistakes. I should probably give a shout- out to my Dad who is a professional carpenter approaching retirement age; I'm pretty sure he thought I wasn't paying attention when I worked with him 25 years ago.
