smm333
My husband got me 2 tiny tanks for Christmas! One is a metaframe model. Apparently used as a demo when they sold metaframe tanks. The other is an old battery case. My husband made lids for each of them. They are gorgeous! They are each maybe a gallon. I plan to grow some plants in them, but is there anything that could live in a space so small? I'm thinking maybe a ghost shrimp and a snail, lol! Also got a metaframe hush 2 pump with the box and instruction book, a cute antique seahorse aquarium ornament and an aquarium ornament that looks like shelf mushrooms from my son, because I love mushrooms! It's been a nice Christmas for fish keeping! 🥰 🐟 2
Fish Folk
You could try some nano fish if you set things up right. I recommend a nitrate-absorbing floating plant. Maybe Najas, or Cabomba. Missouri Hornwort, if you can ever find it — the needles don’t drop! I’d also put in a tiny, primed Bacto-surge sponge filter with cycled tank water. For fish, you could consider Heterandria formosa. Maybe, if you’re advanced, Nothobranchius rachovii.

Least killifish are definately a fish I have been wanting. That may be a good plan for one. I am going to order some soon, but wanted to wait for more stable temperatures! Streetwise
Neocaridina can be happy in small spaces. Enjoy!

BlueLineAquaticsSC
I have a single neocardinia happily living in a mason jar that has pothos growing out of it. I believe Pygmy sunfish stay super small and are pretty unique as well, but I would have to double check and see if they could do a 1g

I am thinking of doing a heavily planted tank with spiderwood and a trio of least killifish in the metaframe. I have a 10 gallon to move excess fish into if they bless me with babies. The 1.6 is so tiny. I think I will plant it a bit lighter, but with plenty of moss and susswassertang, so I can use my seahorse decor as a centerpiece. Then I will use it for neocaradina. I am setting up a 20 long for them now, so maybe I can put culls into the little tank as they begin to breed. Now I'm excitedly planning on building my own miniature matten filter for a 1.6 gallon aquarium, lol! 1
Patrick_G
What a score on the vintage tank and gear! Sales samples in general are really cool collectibles. I’ve done fish in 3 gallon tanks with success, and I think they’re absolutely suitable for snails and shrimp. I agree with @Fish Folkthat small killifish might be the best and I’ve kept Sparkling Gourami and small Guppy/Endler hybrids.
