Good morning nerm fam. Hope everyone is well this Saturday morning. Just thought I would check in the new shrimp and see how there doing  I think they have adjusted well in just 3 days. I wasn't to concerned since the water they came from is very similar to mine. Everyone swimming around this morning. You may even see some of the new shrimp babies almost juviniles in this video.

Having coffee watching the shrimp this morning. I got some fairly decent pics of the new shrimp in the tank. I can't believe how red they are compared to the rest of the original crew. Now I see how much different grades make.

So the new plants have been in the tank for 3 days. No signs of melting so far so that's a good sign. Lightning the new nerite snail went into hiding for a couple of days but I found him today chilling on the filter this morning. 😎

They will burrow @TeeJay

They are the masters of stealth.

He’s so handsome. He stands out well in the tank.

I did not realize that they are burrowers. Yes I hope hus red gets a little deeper as he gets older

Grades?

Yes they grade or classify shrimp by how bright there coloring is. My original shrimp are lower grade with light reds in them. The new ones are a much higher grade and more solid bright red

If you look at the last pic in the set that shrimp is more of a translucent red versus the others. It would be considered a lower color grade

While feeding the shrimpy friends this evening we have alot more new baby shrimp scurrying around! This tank as become way more that I every imagined it would be.

It's been so rewarding taking the time to let the tank season and get established before adding shrimp. It stays very well balanced with very minimal maintenance. As the colony grows I plan to add shrimp to my other tanks as well.

Did a little thinning of the duckweed in the shrimp sanctuary this evening and gave a little bacter ae for dinner this evening. Got a fec pics of the shrimp as well. It has been a week now since adding the new shrimp to the tank. No losses so far as I have found. Plenty of new baby shrimp growing as well.

Tonight the corys had repashy for dinner. A lovely blend of 5 flavors mixed into one. Because I can never decide on just one lol. Of course June came over to get a snack when the corys left for a minute. They usually can me over and inspect the food first then wait for it to get a bit more waterlogged before really going to town.

I still can’t get over all that massive hornwort from that tiny cutting I threw in with your gold bladder snails. That is craziness 😍

Yes from that one tiny 2" piece I have supplied all 3 of my tanks plus some in the 2.5 plant overflow tank.

Did a little playing in the killi tank tonight. Had to thin out the duckweed tonight. It was blocking some of the light to the other plants. Especially the swords. Then the killis had a rest of grindal worms tonight.  They do very well with the worms now. They know as soon as I swirl the long tongs in the top of the tank it's worm time baby! Of course I don't have enough hands to video it while I feed.

Miss guppy got a new home with a friend of mine that wanted to breed more guppys so she now has a new forever home. So Mr platy is still in there as well as the Cory pack and lemony snicket's and the snail crew.

I still haven't seen McQueen the new red onion nerite snail since he first went in the tank a week ago. Those guys always hide so well. Heck it was almost 3 weeks before I saw my original black nerite snail Sailor. So I'm not to concered. I'm sure he is off somewhere munching on some grindage   Sailor loves to hang in and on the hob filter most of the time. Today I caught him up in the filter chilling in the water flow coming into the custom baffel. I could just read his mind. "Just mind your business in just catching some waves"

Got some pics of almost everyone this evening

Yes it has been a busy weekend for TeeJay. More clothes shopping for my girls and getting Halloween costume stuffs. But I did do something fun today. I was curious about those shrimp lollies that they sell now and was going to try them. I was talking about it to @Guppysnail and she said I could make my own for a fraction of the price.

So I got some bamboo sticks and mixed up a batch of repashy bottom scratcher and super green together and coated it onto the bamboo stick.

I just made one for them for now to see if it's something they will eat. Even if not I'm sure flotsam, jetsam and the ramshorn snails will enjoy it. I did make a second for lemony over in the killi tank as well. I'll put it in for him tomorrow morning since I have already fed that tank for today.

So far as I type this no shrimpy friends have tried it yet. But it has only been in the tank for a couple of mins. I'll check back every few mins or so and see if there are any takers. As I said that 2 shrimp have hopped the lolli.

Hmmm they may like it but it's hard to tell 🤔

IMG_20221016_180358444.jpg

And it looks like we have another berried female from our newest batch of shrimp to the sanctuary. She is way brighter red than any of the originals I started with so I know she is from the new clan. Woohoo

Yes I will try and catch a picture of sailor when he emerges. I usually one see him once every couple of weeks. I have only seen McQueen once since I added him to the tank. Tonight the killis had grindal worms for dinner. They do very well with them now. And my cultures are doing very good. So much that I have been able to spread them between 3 different containers.

I made a second repashy lolli for mr snicketts and the corys of the killi tank. A few takers so far. Still hoping to see lemony go have some.

Lemony is growing very well. He was close to 1" without is flowy tailfin when @Guppysnail sent him to me. I would say he is close to 2" now without tailfin. So he has pretty much doubled in size! One day I will try my hand at breeding them....oh yes I shall.  Finally as I'm typing this he finally decided to have some lolli! And finally one of my full belly killi girls let me get a semi decent pic of her
