Northern CA LFS visit...

Was just about and went through a LFS out of my area to take a peek. Their fresh water section was fairly typical but they had some nice specimens. Nothing I felt compelled to take pics of at the time but saw some pretty nice glass catfish. 

However @Odd Duck we JUST talked about Koi and Plecos in a pond. How about just a giant tank. He was about 12" from tip to tail end. I love koi, maybe someday....

Then I thought of @Fish Folkwhen I saw a WALL of discus....they had 1 tank of the ones colored like yours but these were all their muted colors and soooo many.....they were offering 10 off per fish if you bought 6 or more. 

Then I always get stuck in the saltwater section. Someday I'd like to try my hand at it  but the stock is a whole lot more expensive and I'm a bit intimidated by it- but there are some VERY cool fish.

Beautiful koi and a good looking pleco!  In a nice tank, even at room temp, happy camper and completely appropriate.  Out in the cold, fine for koi, not so fine for Mr. Pleco.  😝  He looks happy there!

I sometimes miss my reef tanks and fire fish are one of my favorites.  If I remember right, the first, or close to one of the first fish we ever bought for our first reef tank back in 1983.  Testing this old lady’s memory now!  😆  Then I remember how much work the reef tanks are and I’m gonna nope right out of that.  They sure are beautiful, though.  And so many fascinating behaviors, especially those gobies.

Yea @Odd Duck years ago I started the research to go down the saltwater rabbit hole as I wanted a Purple Frilly Frondosa I saw for sale in a LFS (that has sadly closed) the clerk tried to convince me how easy it was but um, from what I read I was not convinced and I certainly didn't want to take my chances and kill such a cool fish. Those fire fish really caught my eye I can't remember ever seeing them before, so very cool- and fish like gobies that "walk" in the water (and like that Frondosa) really really fascinate me. 

First thought was you when I saw the Pleco in there with all those gorgeous koi couldn't believe that I came across the combo so soon after our back and forth. Huge beautiful tank but didn't get a full pic of it. Plecos just look like sea dragons to me, I love them.

You should see purple fire fish!  I think they’re even prettier than “regular” fire fish.  I put regular in quotes because, well, just look at them!  Hard to call that kind of beauty regular!  But the purples are even more striking!  Pic from wiki, obviously.

That was pretty much my reaction to seeing them the first time!  😍😍😍

I still remember where I was at - a fish store in Denver, Colorado.  We had to drive 5 hours to get to a decent fish store that had salt water fish back then.

I never thought to much about koi until I took in my neighbors 2 this fall. After watching them I have grown to appreciate koi. Just have no where to keep them long term or I would try them.

These are really cool thanks for sharing. That fire fish is gorgeous. A few years back my niece desperately wanted me to get a cow fish because she said it was so ugly it was cute. I started looking at salt (because I also wanted a clownfish) and the second things like specific gravity and salinity levels were mentioned I knew it was over my head.

I live about 45 min from there. Although I've only gone there once.

I hit the Depot more often but mostly because I'll only go south of the river during certain times of the day.
