Best Pump for Water Changes

I watched Cory’s video “How to Speed Up Your Aquarium Water Change” and the Cobalt MJ1200 isn’t available anymore. What is the best alternative? I was cheap and bought this pump, but it sucks. That dial on top of that small tube on the left side of the pump in this picture wasn’t closing off to have water flow out of a connected tube. The tube to connect a hose to on this pump has a 5/8” diameter, and I used a 7/8” tube to fit it.

You could always just use a bigger siphon without a debris catch in it. The smaller the siphon, the weaker the flow and vise versa.

I've used the ecoplus pumps in the past.

I use the cheapest 12v submersible pump on amazon (~10$).  I think fountain pumps are the cheapest option.  I don't think you need anything fancy.

I don't use a submersible pump. I use an Extraup utility pump, 0.1 HP, 330 gallons per hour. Of course, the true flow rate is not anywhere near 330 gallons per hour because of head pressure. But it is powerful enough to suck up detritus.
