I’m slowly getting into saltwater….how has it worked for you @Chris?

Especially noticing the ACO stickers on the rack 😂

As Gup said, real nice growth. Do you think that it helps the tank in any way?
-
What’s the top one called?

Are the RPP stores also getting them?

You really do have a penchant for bettas. 😂

My vote goes to the sparkling gouramis .
@Colu do you think that salt may help with the killi growth aforementioned ⬆️?

The LFS finally had springtails.
Am I supposed to be looking for something in that pile of hay? 😂
Tanks looking gr8 btw!

It’s been a whole 2 weeks - hi!
New year, new goals: get a saltwater tank up and running, breed tetras successfully, and eradicate duckweed (not very realistic 😏).
It also turns out that falling down stairs with a bust arm can result in a torn ligament…🤕
New angels for a future breeding project arrived from one of the biggest breeders in my Local Club. Just a mix & match of blushing, black, wild, gold, and koi. Hopefully there’ll be some good crosses out of that lot!
Also btw one of my BNPs is a terrible dad…is it possible to make a DIY egg-tumbler?
Happy new year from Gretel 🫠

Cool snails!

1 m 1 F has worked best for me, but it does involve A LOT of waiting. 🫠

I find that spawning mops only work if there’s no other egg suitable plants in the tank…which is a bit of a shame because the tank doesn’t end up looking great.

Hey @TheSwissAquarist, how’s the shrimp jar doing?
Shrimping along…. nothing special apart from a bunch of shrimplets in and around the place.

Got her a voucher for Zalando, which is kind of like an online clothes store over here. Thanks for the idea @nabokovfan87!
Tank maintenance takes soooo much longer with a broken arm, but hey… I spend more time actually enjoying the tanks. Beforehand it was just scrub, vac, WC, next!
Aiming for the clean lidless look with these guys. There’s definitely gonna be a rescape soon, and I might take the opportunity to paint the sides black.
WC with one hand is tough. 🫠
Von Rios enjoying the Val. I think I may have found a technique for stopping the eggs from fungusing. RO water -> rain -> snow and we’ve got plenty of the latter. I’ve realized that all the eggs are fungusing a lot more ever since my dad took down our rainwater harvesting system and my tanks have been switched back to tap water. Shrimp like it, tetra eggs hate it. 😑
Btw do you guys have Xmas markets in the states?

I find that the Ricefish mops only work if there’s no other plants in the tank which are suited to spawning.

Caught a molt in progress!
Had a time of it w/ the camera focus but I tried.
There are lots of shrimplets in the tank now! They are free swimming, and it’s obvious because they are clumsy little swimmers at first. ❤️
Nice catch!

Retired Geezer here. My neighbor brought over a 2.5 gal tank with one sad guppy for me to watch while he is on vacation.
My wife and I have had tanks before and this triggered happy memories. Well you can guess what happened, we're off to look for a 20-29 gallon tank for ourselves. It's been 40 years since we had fish and I remember the filter was called an 'under gravel filter'. Do they even have these anymore?
Second question. Should lights be on 24/7 or should I turn them off during dark hours to help the fish maintain diurnal rhythm.
Welcome to the forum! UGFs (under gravel filters) seem to have made way for the easier to maintain sponge filters in the past years.
Definitely do as @JE47 says and keep a diurnal rhythm. Good luck!- 1

Good times… 🥹
My Xmas present from my grandparents came! It’s a 47 liter aquarium (10 ish gal) meant for saltwater or fresh…it’s got a more aesthetic feel to it, so I’m tempted to use it for marine… what are your thoughts?!
