  1. i dont even know what to do anymore i feel like giving up entirely i found her with unilateral popeye in her tank, the parameters were fine and have been so in the tank for over a year. the popped eye was cloudy though i placed her into a quarantine tank, that i had to set up right then and there so it wasnt the ideal condition but i started to treat her with salt and the swelling went down a lot but the eye was still cloudy so i treated her with mardel maracyn the past few days she was eating fine but now she wont eat at all the top of her mouth has rotted away and there is a white protrusion from the bottom of the eye what do i even do i cant find furan 2 and everyone say get furan two, i have some in food form but she wont eat i started her on neoplex but i done know if that would work i dont know what to do anymore ive lost so many betta in the last few months i want to just quit entirely i cant handle so many of my babies dying left and right, i feel like ive killed them all
  2. what kind of substrate should i use. ive tried flourite and eco complete and hated them. its so harsh on delicate roots
  3. do you think i could incorporate this piece, its rather large and would take up 2/3 of the tank. i plan to trim it down to make more room. just waiting on my roommate to grab his old vine clippers
  4. Ever since i finished the scape for this 10 gallon ive just hated it. I designed it on the table and it looked good but when translating it to the tank i just cant stand it. i thought i would try a light colored substrate for once but i can never get all the debris vacuumed out without harming my plants (killed 3 successful pink flamingo crypts this way 😰). im planning to move out the embers into my 40 community tank along with the snails and shrimp that i brought in from my 40 originally. i was wanting to try an nutrient rich instead of root tabs in inert substrate. im planning to add the newest betta i got into the tank once he is done with quarantine and the tank is ready.
  5. the top half of his tail fins has regrown a good bit from what initially happened but there are a few splits in the bottom half that where not there the day before
  6. is it ok to leave the rocks that the anubias are attached to?
  7. I have a betta named butter and he was fine when I got him initially but after a week or so he got a bad case of fin rot. I treated him in a quarantine with silk plants and after his fin started growing back I placed him back in his original tank. Now his fins are getting torn again. The tank is a planted tank but he keeps wedging himself between the roots and leaves. I believe this is what is tearing his fins but I don’t know how to get him to stop. The parameters are fine (78*F, 6.8 gallons, 0ppm nitrite and ammonia, below 20ppm nitrate). he is in there with two nerites and several shrimp. he likes to squeeze himself between the nerite roots in the first picture. he didnt rub up against the silk plants in his quarantine tank so i have no idea what's going on and why he is doing this
  8. currently treating with neoplex right now, i can up the salt though
  9. i got the flakes as the capsules were not available that i could find. he won't eat them though. ive been treating him with the kanaplex but its only got worse. the rot spread to his mouth and he cant keep pellets down if he even manages to eat them. i dont know what to do.
  10. i looked for furan 2 and its discontinued, is there an alternative. i have some kanaplex i can use
  11. About a month ago my betta developed finrot and his dorsal fin had almost completely rotted away, i started treating him with mardel maracyn. after a few treatments of this, there was no improvement. i moved him out of his display tank and into a 10 gallon quarantine tank and started treating him with metroplex. i set the tank up as best i could. i had to but a new tank because my other quarantine tank was occupied with a betta with ich. i did take some filter media from my main tank and put it into the filter of this one to speed up its cycle. unfortunatly i ran into some health problems and i have been unable to take care of dat are much as i normally would have and could only get up to feed and medicate his tank. im feeling better now but when i got a good look at him he looked awful. the rot has spread down his sides and it look like the flesh is being striped away (its had to see in the picture but the fuzzy looking areas under his dorsal fin should be blue). the areas are fuzzy and there are no scales, and it seems like a few millimeters of flesh under the scales are gone. i dont know what to do. i did a 30% water change and started dosing him with neoplex. he is still active and will come up to me to greet me, although he keeps hiding his side that is the worse from me. he eats well still. ph: 6.8 nitrates: 20-30ppm nitrites: 0 ammonia: .5 ppm (normally 0 but my tap water has some ammonia in it) hardness: 100+ kh: 40 temperature: 78*c
