  1. Hello. I’m looking for some suggestions for lights for my 29 gallon. It’s heavenly planted and I’m currently using the aqueon hood fluorescent bulb. Seems to work just fine but it’s a pain to work with since I have to take the light off to work in the tank and where I have the tank is not very well lit. I’m looking for something full spectrum that offers lighting cycles as I go out f town a lot for work. The stingray doesn’t seem strong enough and I’ve heard to many bad things about the fluval one coop sells because of the app being garbage. I’ve considered a timer plug but I have everything plugged into a surge protector so the spacing would suck and I still want a light I can leave on my tank when I take the lid off due to poor lighting in the area. 2. @Zenzo they actually seem really awesome. If I’m not growing fry it doesn’t seem they harm anything. Is that true?
  3. That she’ll looks like 2 half’s glued together. Really pretty though. So everyone, rams are the best for decaying plants? A lot of people are saying the bladders do good at that but I never see them touching it. Same with the nerites.
  4. @JettsPapa I saw them. They’re pretty. I’m gonna hold out and see if they do better and go from there but possibly them or a few cherry barbs
  5. @carefulest the one on the rock was unmarked and the one in the package just said Anubius sp
  6. What’s a good snail I can have in my planted tank that doesn’t get too big? I have a 29 and already have 3 Nerites and a bunch of bladder snails. Just found as bunch f new horns. Thinking of getting one assassin snail to help out. Will they bother my Nerites and can I get a rams head or mystery? I understand that the bladder snails only populate to the food amount but I still would like to keep them from getting too bad and assassins look nice.
  7. I found this little gem. Figured it could get passed around for the new people like myself that isn’t sure what they have.
  8. @Beardedbillygoat1975 thanks again. I’ll try the aged water and also just leave the tank alone for a few days besides feeding and water checks.
  9. @Beardedbillygoat1975 this is a new tank so all the fish came in together and they’ve all been treated with the trio. I haven’t seen any signs of issues in theirs gills or them rubbing on things. The ammonia is about .25 now but treated with prime. The Kuhlis we’re showing some signs of either ich or mucas coat over doing it. I treated with ich-x for several days and water changes between and they’re fine now. As for the pH, GH, and KH before the water changes were pH - 6.6, GH - 6 to 7, and KH - 1 to 2. Now it’s fluctuating a little due to the changes. The tap is ph - 7 to 7.2, GH - 9, KH - 4. Today was the last time changing the water so tomorrow Ill tell the gh and KH again. pH today was 7 in the tank. From what you guys said this may be why they’re dying. I didn’t think that little of a swing would kill them off.
  10. My 3 Nerites are all over the place. I have a floating log for my betta and came home to one just chilling in there. I also have bladder snails that like to attach to the duck weed then end up out in the middle of the tank until I save them.
  11. I just went out and bought more Anachris for the background. Hopefully this helps them.
  12. @anewbie I keep the tank at 78°. I don’t know anything about them. I had to special order them as no one but Petco had any left and they looked bad there. Now that I’m thinking about it, the pet store ordered about 40 and the ones I have are about all that’s left. @CalmedByFish & @Scapexghost I might try those. Are those fish and shrimp safe with my current stock? I’ll consider the fish if these cardinals keep dying off Im going to take them back.
  13. @Atitagain yep it’s a 29. There’s about 16-17 in there. I had 21 but they’ve been dying off. Here’s what I have right now. I got the cardinals over neons because they get a little bigger and the more vibrant red coloring. Cardinal Tetras x16 Harlequin Rasbora x5 Pygmy Corries x8 Khuli loaches x6 Betta Snails
  14. So I’ve seen a lot about mystery snails on here. I was under the impression that those were just a place holder name for snails you haven’t identified yet. What’s he draw to them?
  15. @Scapexghost I’ve had them about 3 weeks now. @CalmedByFish I have a betta in there so I can’t have anything with long fins or that flashes. He’s no longer aggressive to any fish in the tank but if they were slow and had flashy fins he’d be a total jerk. Do either of you have a suggestion for a red nano fish that isn’t timid? Cherry barbs?
  16. So I truly love the color and flashy appeal of a school of tetras compared to their price of $2-$4 each. However I truly hate the fact that they’re so skittish and delicate. They hide the moment I’m near the tank and By delicate I mean they die like rabbits from fright. My harlequins however are always front and center. They have a beautiful color pattern and just over all may not be as pretty as the cardinals but offer more as a schooling fish. Is there another nano fish like them with the eye catching colors of a cardinal? Another issue I’m having now is Im losing 1 cardinal a day now. Waters at .25 ammonia 0 nitrites, and 5 nitrates. I think they truly might be starving their selves because they hide when I go to feed them and the harlequins and the betta eat everything. I tried giving a little and letting the others feed then feed them but nothings working. Tried frozen brine shrimp and blood worms, betta pellets, plecco wafers, and flakes. This is a gravely planted tank with hiding places and no sign of aggression from the other fish.
  17. I have 3 Nerites and about 10 bladder snails and counting. What are your guys favorite snails and why?
  18. I was at pecto picking up some stuff and saw these 2 in the betta section and figured mine would appreciate it. The packages only said Anubius sp. Sorry if this is an obvious question. I just started with plants and not familiar with the specific ones just the basics.
  19. @Colu I appreciate that. I went and got some but before putting it in looked it up and just saw this so glad I didn’t. Thanks again.
  20. @Coluwhats your opinion on using aquarium salt during ich treatment and if you would then about how much per water change?
  21. So a quick update. I changed the water out using a python. When refilling it there was a huge. Air bubble that pretty much was like using dynamite to go fishing. It killed one harlequin onesie toy because they’re nosey and wanted to see what was happening and caused gravel to go flying and buried a Pygmy Corey I had to get out. He’s hurt. A few cardinals are banged up and possible a kuhlis so I may have made it worse. Pretty sure I’m gonna have a few dead fish in the morning.
  22. @Colu appreciate the help. Thank you
  23. @Colu they’re to small to really see but it doesn’t look fuzzy but I’ll follow that. The dose I gave for ich-x was the recommended 5ml per 10 gallons but they freaked out. However I also put in the other 2 meds at the same time. Should I just dose normally and keep an eye on them on them or just be proactive and do like 12mls instead of 15?
  24. After a 50% water change they calmed down. I gave them a little bite to eat and are doing well. Hope I hear back if it’s a fungal or parasite. I’ll dose in the morning after another water change. Kuhlis suck to catch so no quarantining them.
