She's not eating, unfortunately. But she still moves around now and then, coming up to the surface then going back under a rock. I did a complete water change on my lunch break, increased the aquarium salt (2T/gal) and I added the antibiotic I could get at Petco, Melafix. Several people mentioned epsom salts, I had no idea that was fish safe. I don't have any but if I have to do another water change I'll look into it.

What about soaking it in a bucket for a week or so, testing the salinity before and after? I don't know much about saltwater aquariums but I know they use something to check salinity.

A search brings up info about white fungus on wood added to tanks--not that it's dangerous, bc fish eat it, but it can be unsightly. I'd be concerned about other fungi on the wood and boil it first, just in case.

I'm in a similar boat with my betta girl. We've been working to pull her through since Tuesday, I also cannot tell if she looks better or worse. I've used Stress Guard without any problems. I'm a fan of Seachem products in general.

quikv6 I agree, but I read conflicting info online, some said to use water from the tank to avoid shocking her, some said use all fresh. I compromised and used half and half. I think the small heater I put in there (it doesn't maintain a temp sadly) may have contributed to the nitrite increase. I have an airstone in there but no filter, bc of adding meds. I'm getting an antibiotic today and will do a complete change both for the water quality and to start her fresh with a different med. I will also increase salt from 1T/gal to 2T/gal, which was also suggested, since she's been in the 1T water for four days now.

What are the chances she'll recover? Put her in hospital tank 2 days ago with aquarium salt. Today she looked worse. Dosed with Imagitarium bacterial remedy. Label doesn't say what it's good for specifically. Gh 60 kh 40 ph 7 no2 0.5 no3 20

The numbers are good, other than soft water. 0 nitrites, 40 nitrates, pH between 6.5 and 7 Just the 3 mollies I mentioned

I moved my common pleco to a larger tank four weeks ago. He was alone before for a long time. He occasionally did some fast turning in the past but not a lot of flopping around. Now he's smacking the lid of the tank many times a day. He never did this before. The other tank had a black hood, this has a glass flat lid. Our water is very soft (I will address that shortly) but the other numbers are good. He sticks to the glass sometimes, as usual, but also does that leap face-first straight up. He used to come to the surface when I dropped in some flakes, but no longer does this. He sometimes grabbed his algae wafers and carried them around eating them, but does not do this now. I add a pinch of flake in the morning and give him his wafer at night. His companions now are three mollies. Is this normal? Was his generally placid behavior in the past NOT normal? I've had this guy for maybe eight years. I'm concerned. Also on edge bc his leaping is startling me.
