  1. This is him with full body in frame.
  2. I see. I found guppy breeder who has youtube video channel and he had one video how he cured the red spots with melafix. When I commented on his video, he said, he noticed Albino blue commonly gets these red dots on tail and nothing serious disease and heal on its own and aquarium salt help heal them as well even without antibiotic. So, I added aquarium salt yesterday and red dot became smaller and less red. I was happy but then at the same time, I found tiny pinhole in the tail.. Maybe he got nipped? I added breeder box around noon because I did not want them to eat fry. Came back like hours later, he had bigger hole in the tail like looking like nipped twice. Tail edge is not blacken or red or orange or frayed tail yet so it is not fin rot at this stage but worry it could get developed into it... I know one of the fish tend to chase other fish away and saw her fighting with other female :tail banging each other but tail damage is only him..but then, I have not seen her chasing him. I am wondering if i should separate her from mates in quarantine tank using breeder box but then she being pregnant, it could stress her more... I cannot decide what I need to do. I do know that fin rot is one of the sympton in columnari thing but he does not have any fungus looking mouth nor white patch over body nor frayed tail;just hole in the tail, I do not think it is big C .. Is this nipped fin or is it already fin rot?
  3. Thank you. Do you add 2 tbs for 10 gallon tank all at once or gradually bring it to 2 tbs worth to the tank without water change?
  4. Tank info: PH 8, KH 7, GH 5 yesterday, ammonia zero, nitrite zero, nitrate 5 today ammonia 0.25,nitrite zero, I did not check nitrate. Tank size 10 gallon Tank temp 77F number of fish in the tank:5 Only this guy developed this red dots on tail _______________________ I got guppy yesterday and one of them in quarantine tank developed this red spots on tail.Could be injury (he was most skitish one and as soon as he went into tank, he was sticking to the aquarium coop sponge filter and it could have rub against his tail, or maybe nipped by other fish), could be ammonia (yesterday it was ammonia zero nitrite zero, nitrate 5 but today, ammonia was 0.25ppm.Nitrite was zero though. At this point, I added prime and stability until I figures out what to do. I would like to try aquarium salt first. Is this good way to go? Only this guy has this and rest of them are fine. This guy got more comfortable in the tank and he has good appetite and swim fine, not hiding corner or anything like that. Day 1. Do water change and add 2 tablespoons aquarium salt. My tank is 10 gallon. Day 2 and after. After water change add 1 teaspoon salt. I take out 2 gallon when water change. Other question will be how often do I need to do water change when dosing aquarium salt? I normally do weekly water change but I should do more frequent? I have used aquarium salt in the past last year or so with fin nipped guppy and started from 1 tsp per gallon dosage but I do not remember if I added initial dose of salt to the tank size first or not. When I was doing that, one day, I up the salt level to 1 tbs per 2 gallon dosage (I do not remember the level but took from salt post from aquarium coop blog and up the level and I guess it was sudden change and guppy I was treating passed awaty next day..So I wanted to make sure step of adding salt to the tank and its amount. Thank you.

    Biomax

I see.Thank you. Quarantine tank has sponge filter, not HOB so I cannot get the water flow going through but I am keeping the mesh bag of biomax close to the sponge filter.I am not sure if it does any better. I was watching Jadren aquatic youtube video on instant cycle topic one.He said, he put one sponge filter that has no water flowing through in the tank and let the other sponge filter running and when he needs tank set up ASAP,then, he put the one that had water running through and let the one just sitting inside the tank to start working for the original tank. So, just tossing filter into the tank gets bacteria glowing and could use that trick, I thought. Water is flowing to the bavk up one or not is issue or like he said in the video, it is the good tip you could use for instant cycle time? The one I set up short time was with new water and squeeze the dirty sponge filter in the new water and used the new sponge filter but if it is fine to let the sponge filter sitting in the tank without water flow until the one that running gets used in quick set up quarantine tank then, I could change my way like that,I thought.

    Biomax

Thank you. I dropped Biomax thinking it could work like substrate being in the tank but I guess I was wrong then? I have not used any med just yet.I wanted to be prepared. Last time I had mini cycle... I believe I used antibiotic med EM erythromycin. I did not dose stability when I dosed the med and I just dosed stability after treatment was done. Maybe I should have dose stability and EM erythromycin at the same time...

    Biomax

ok, thank you. I have sponge filter, not HOB but in bare bottom tank with sponge filter, I added biomax for more surface to grow bacteria. Since you said about live bacteria dosing after med, I am curious, say you dose antibiotic to the tank.Do you dose stability along with antibiotic added to the tank?Do you add stability only after med is done working in the tank? If it were people case, you take antibiotic but often times, you are asked to take it with yogurt (good gut bacteria). Dog is also the same.Vet prescribe antibiotic and you are to give med with probiotic med with food. With fish tank, different? I always added stability when you dose antibiotic med into the tank, not waiting til the last dose /water change. I was wrong?
  8. I would like to know if you have biomax in your tank or in your filter like aqua clear, and if you needed to medicate the tank, do I need to remove that as well? I know I need to remove carbon (carbonMatrix) if I were using it in the tank or in the filter when I need to medicate the tank. Biomax is not a carbon but biological filter material (Am I correct??), I do not need to remove it when medicate the tank? My tank set up: bare bottom with a few floating plants, filtered by sponge filter. I was dosing med and was adding CarbonMatrix after medicating the tank by putting some carbon into old panty hose cut out and tie on both ends just like candy and drop it in to remove med. However, since in the past, when I dose med, it was easy for ammonia to get creep up (I was testing water more frequently for quarantine tank) or I have had mini cycle going after med,. so I came to decision that I try put the BioMax into the quarantine tank to provide more surface for bacteria to grow. And hopefully, it would not make ammonia to creep up easy and provide more safer environment for fish in quarantine. In case you are not sure what biomax is, here is the link you can read it up product detail. This is what comes with aqua clear filter to pu on top of sponge. I got only this biomax for 10 gallon tank and just dropped it in for now. https://www.chewy.com/aquaclear-biomax-filter-insert/dp/152082?fbclid=IwAR1Eh954mroyCQOAPr7eeL-iHzqZonGO38Tdq-zPr8PSCdaVr2mho6izxcA Thank you.
  9. Thank you. In the video that I watched, @Corysaid it is snail safe, shrimp safe, plant safe but did not say scaleless fish like Corydras safe or not so, I was wondering about it. Do you use General Cure, api erythromycin, Ich X or Do you use Maracyn, Para cleanse, ich X? I got all API stuff plus Ich X but I do not have para cleanse so, I am thinking of going with API method. 1 tsp ich X, 1 packet of General cure, 1 packet of api erythromycin for 10 gallon tank. Am I correct? Then, 50% water change after 1 week, and observe2-3 weeks more. Thank you.
  10. Hi. I am wondering if any of you got quarantine process you can share for corydras. What med do you use and how long? I saw video where @Cory says he use med trio General cure, api erythromycin, Ich X but all of those are corydras safe? With guppy, when I used api erythromycin, guppy got red rash on side or red head and since then, I have not used that specific anti bacterial med so I am kind of scary to use that one. With fish, since then, I use paraguard for 2 weeks and then observe and then let them join in the designated tank. But last time I got panda and used paraguard, it seemed like did nothing to them and when they were flashing, it did not fix either (With guppy flashing, always fix right up). In the end, I lost 3 out of 6 and 3 are in the main tank and I need to get more cory but when I do, I am wondering what med I use for quarantine. If you could share your quarantine process for corydras, I will be much appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Thank you! I too remember I heard blue dream was bred from chocolate shrimp so, it is some kind of revert back too, but since I have only blue dream in the tank, it got me wondering why... By the way, I found baby shrimp today in blue dream tank.I only spotted 2 so far.
  12. Hmm, I do not know what happened. I only keeping shrimp for 6 months and only 2 places I got shrimp from are LRB and Flip Aquatics. Both of them had shipment that had tiny tiny shrimp came with;I only saw blue dot when they came. This guy is not tiny shrimp but more like juvenile size and I did not notice the color until today... But I never had shrimp being born and so far, I succeeded only to the point shrimp gets berried in my tank. That being said, yesterday, I saw berried shrimp about 2 of them but today, the ones I thought she was is not having egg in her tummy. So, she might have birthed baby shrimp but also possible she might have dropped egg,I do not know.I have not had tiny baby shrimp being birthed yet. I know I saw 2 molts this morning but not sure if any of those belong to him either. He is very active and eats and swim fine but.. I should put him back to blue tank?Or separate from the tank of blue dream? Thank you.
  13. Today,I found 2 molts in my blue dream tank and found this guy. Almost brown-black. I am certain this color of shrimp was not in the tank before. Once molt, darker blue dream gets this color or is it because my substrate is black color, all of my blue dream would turn this color eventually? I have very bright sky blue colored Dream blue shrimp. Sky blue shrimp stays bright blue.... Darker ocean blue stays ocean blue but what is happening on this guy? I did not want him to breed this color in the tank so took him out for now.
  14. @Irene, I was recommended to try Lavamisole powder from select aquatics for Internal parasite; I tried General cure, no change, and I tried to feed guppy Antiparasite duo and quad flakes from everything aquatics but the one without issue gets excited to eat the medicated food and the one that needs to eat the medicated food refused to eat or take it but spits back up and I could not start the treatment with medicated food so, I was told to try lavamisole (by water column). Female guppy had nice solid brown poop before birth but after birth, I keep seeing stringy poop and not so much interests in appetite so, I like to try this but I got 2 questions. 1. The poster says after dosing med, ammonia level went up and parameter is bit off so does that mean, when it happens, it is best to add in prime to keep fish safe from ammonia and also adding stability so bacteria would not get to be zero in the tank and cycle crash until final treatment and maybe plus one day?? 2. One course of treatment is 2 dosing? I read instruction on the select aquatics but English is not my first language so, I will be appreciated if you help me understand how to do. I understood you need to do water change and dose spoonful of powder (the spoon come in the kit) and then next day, water change and dose another spoonful for 10 gallon side if you treat 10 gallon tank. After that, I need to do one more water change and wait 2 weeks and do the water change-dosing-wait 24 hours-water change -dosing again and treatment is done? Thank you.
  15. I have API test kit that has PH test, nitrite test and all thing in one box,but is it different one?
  16. you think it was my ammonia reading could be wrong?
  17. But it is also possible that it is kind of hard to tell apart ammonia zero and ammonia 0.25,there might have been a little when I read it as zero.
  18. i did with paraguard with stability for 2 weeks, no improvement though. When I had guppy flashing,it fix right up.strange..
  19. Yes,quarantine tank was ammonia zero, nitrite zero, nitrate 10ppm .Only one time or so I got ammonia spike. But if it were parasite kind, only flashing during the meal time is strange too...
  20. Good idea.Thank you.My husband tried to catch for me but he could catch only 1 and he was surprised how fast they can swim, lol. So, now I got 5 cory but group needs to be 6 and more for them? Do I need to get more cory for them to swim together? I was not sure 5 and 6 makes much difference to them but then, I am new keeper so... What is your take? I read a loot they need to be group of 6 or more but lost one from 6 so..now I got only 5.
  21. Yes, that was what I was told. But how everyone catch them in the big planted tank if you wanted to take some cory out from the tank? Even taking out from 10 gallon tank was bit of challenge.. Any tips and tricks?
  22. Thank you. I am first keeper of corydras and most pic I find online is from pic taken from the sides and was not sure if it is normal or not. If something was wrong with them, then, after releasing to big planted tank... it would take ages to catch them so I was hesitant. If the look is normal, then, worth trying to put them and see? I have used General cure for guppy before but I did not see any noticeable changes either.
  23. I am currently drip acclimating cory to the designated tank (since Nitrate level between this 75 gallon tank with quarantine tank got is different while rest of it is same) but, I see white pimple like things under their eyes. Is this normal? 2 out of 5 were flashing during meal time, and I myself were thinking only after they stopped flashing during meal time, I add them to the tank but it has been almost a month and a few days and no change. I asked the seller about this and seller urged me and told me if they got into designated tank that are more stable water condition, they would probably stop flashing.I was hesitant for a long time but since no change, and if I did not try, I would not know the result and , it is risky but decided to try but should I wait more after looking these pimple like things if not normal.. I am torn. Flashing occurred only during meal time and it is not like 24/7 flashing. Only 2 out of 5 do that. I did try more water change and also tried paraguard with stability but no improvement. If anyone start flipping, they flips about up to 10 flips and then go back to normal zoomie to eat the food.Quarantine tank was/is bare bottom. Thank you.
  24. Thank you.It is not shine, it moves with shrimp and some shrimp has one of those and some has two but always between eyes. From the side, not sticking upwards but it is sticking forward. My local fish's cherry shrimp has nothing like this...... Just theirs...
