Yes, but not sure if hillstream and plants would tolerate the salt in the water.. Med, I do not think it is a prob though.

I got hillstream loach and plants in there as well as Nerite snail... Not sure if treating full tank with salt makes casualty or not... Probably just do antibiotic....

I watched the video.Thank you. I was curious if it is something tetra disease or columnari or simple fungus.. Kind of difficult to differentiate between those... I have never seen fuzz on fish body up until now. I did not want it to spread by sharing water with rest of the group so, I pulled the fish with fuzz out from the group and did water change. I came here to ask feeding tips but looks like I maybe have to make another thread on disease area later.. I hope it is nothing serious....

When I was watching them coming out from hiding, I saw one of them had fuzz on its side.I actually noticed difference yesterday but I thought it was missing scale yesterday but today, it is definitely fuzz... Should I pull him/her out asap just in case of Neon Tetra disease? Or they are still here like from a few days so, I do not want to give them more stress or make them think I am their predator.... so, I should go ahead and treat with antibiotic like maracyn 2 for full tank and see if it helps? I read neon tetra disease spread fast but, how would it spreads? Unless group does not eat the fish with disease, they are fine? Or is it like they are in the same water, they would get it if I did not take him/her away right away? Wonder neon tetra disease is rare thing or common things... I was hoping I would not get one ..I hope it is just simple fungus and not neon tetra disease....

Also, when you come feed them,which spot in the tank do you put the food in? When I get closer, and lid open, green neon tetras scatter around the tank and go hide.. This morning,I tried back side where they might be hiding and front in case they come out sooner and see food in front but I cannot decide which spot is better. It seems like if food fell onto the leaves of plants, they don't touch?? I may try live brine shrimp next thinking maybe they can find food easier? Today, I tried to feed Dr Bassler Aloe (0.5mm size granule).I saw one of the 11 caught one piece and ate it but did not see others catch them.... @_Eric_ In my head, my plan was to feed food I normally feed our guppy fry;flakes, powder food, frozen food etc... I am not sure if they get used to me more, they would come out from hiding and easier for me to find the spot in the tank to feed as well as what works and what is not for them. Thank you.

ok, I understood. I was not sure... For now, my goal is to find food my green neon gets excited about and find food they take it ok. I try all food one at a time and see if it is no go or not. I did not realize they do not come up to top to eat and since I was thinking I can feed them fry food and they come eat,it was interesting find.

@Scapexghost,Thank you for the idea. So, you feed mostly repashy with flakes and some frozen/freeze dried and vibra bites? In the past, when I wanted to entice the fish in my big 75 gallon tank to eat medicated food, I have used flakes in repashy but when I added flakes a bit, it did not get as hard as it normally would be so I ended up sprinkled flakes on top before it really done setting. I kept it like 3 days in fridge but unsure how long it is good in the fridge if flakes were mixed in.. Any reasons why you do not feed pellets? Today, I tried northfin community and it is round tiny pellets (0.5mm).I mainly put those for cory but saw a few green neon caught in the midway as it falls to the bottom.It looked still bit bigger than their mouth. I am not sure if they keep pecking at it to eat at the place where they feel secure....

Thank you. I did not know that was natural instinct. I always had guppy and got used to keeping fish that comes to top to eat if not bottom with cory so it was interesting to see. So, do you two mostly feed slow sinking type of pellet more than flakes?

Hi. Recently, I got green neon tetra. I love how they look and so cute. I noticed that they do not come to the top to eat the food like guppies would. Is it how tiny green neon tetra do all the time; wait for the flakes to come sinking to the bottom and then eat? I got Panda cory with them and they look like they are interested in cory's food and move towards cory's food,instead of flakes on top. It is still second day so they may need time to get used to the surrounding but, I was not sure it is how they act naturally or is it from being new in our tank. Since they did not come to the top, I stirred the water on top part so flakes go sinking. Is it how you feed green neon tetra?? Or they are fish that mostly eat slow sinking pellet? Thank you.

@Cory Thank you. I tested water again and still ammonia stays zero, no visual strangeness in guppies but more number of guppies started flashing and one of cory started flashing.. I am not sure if ammonia spike's aftereffects is just like us getting sick; you get sick and symptom gets worse and then go back to better. Their appetite is normal (if you feed regular food,all take it enthusiastically) and poop is regular color, not stringy,no fuzz on body, no dots.. no red worm thread thingy from butt...gill colors are not very red nor brown...no breathing heavily or no hiding corner kind of guppies... Wonder what is making them flashing..Round almost ready to birth female guppies also flashing.. I understood for prazipro. It seems like it might decrease the oxygen if it were used with prime some,so maybe when I dose, I use airline tube with air stone on the tip, no sponge filter in addition to Aqua clear 110 HOB and sponge filter that are already running in my 75 gallon tank to increase the oxygen level. And just dose one time 4tsp bit shy for the tank and see if it helps. If not, next week, dose one more time and no dosing for next 5-7 days. Site says one dose is lasting 5-7 days so, if you dose once, it is acting for next 5 days and it is supposed to be added into the water as needed every 5-7 days,am I correct? This med is not like daily dosing med,correct? I am originally from Japan (I live in VA though) and English is not my mother language. I am sorry if my English were not easy to understand.

@Cory,Thank you. If it were ok with Prime, I will order it and dose once to the community tank and see if it helps. My last question is, how much should I add to the tank 75G ? Should I go with little less; 3.5 tsp or little more; 4 tsp? Thank you.

@Cory Thank you for your reply. I see your point. If I am using prime which prazipro might not be effective with, what other method do you suggest? Other way around is to make new water with just stress coat , no prime, for hospital tank 3G and use prazipro once (0.8ml by syringe) and observe rest of the week? I am confused with the dosing though. 1 treatment is 1tsp/20G water one time and after dosed once,it is done and just observe ? Or 1 treatment is 1 tsp/20G 2 times and takes 1 week (like dose on Sun and Thursday ) and done? Thank you.

@Cory,Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am glad to hear cory is safe with Prazipro. How about Burno sucker fish? A few days ago, I noticed fish flashing.So, I checked water and ammonia was 1ppm (Usually, I can keep at zero but I might have been overfeeding the tank after 4 cory being in there plus 3 Burneo sucker fish besides bunch of guppies.).So, On that day, I dosed prime and stability and next day I dosed stability only since ammonia was still 0.5ppm.Then, next day, I checked water again which is yesterday, it was zero ammonia. I am not sure if ammonia spike a few days ago made a few fish flashing and still doing it until it really is stable (ammonia zero for longer time?). I will observe but I like to be proactive as well. Looking at the Hikari website for direction, just like your store website it says 1 tsp/20G water. So, if tank was 75 gallon tank, should I go with bit more than exact number of 3.75; meaning 4 tsp or at the tiny bit less than exact amount; 3.5 tsp? I am using prime for water conditioner along with API stress coat plus. So, according to Hikari website, adding to the community tank might not be that much effective since prime might be sulfur based item .. I am thinking maybe, I make repashy with 3-4 tsp less water and when it starts to get cool down and lukewarm and not set, I am thinking of adding Prazipro for 75 gallon worth and then feed it until it gone. Recently, I started seeing some fish flashing in my community tank 75 gallon and if it were just a single fish, I would use hospital tank set up and treat the fish but, I see a few doing it. The number of the fish in the tank is much more and smaller number of fish flashing but it is planted tank and so hard to catch more than a few,so I am thinking of treating the community tank. It got Albino cory, burno sucker fish, shrimp, otto. I read on Aquarium coop store product page, it said plants, invert safe but is it safe for cory and burno sucker fish,otto as well? Also, for direction, I read 1 tea spoon/20 gallon so, for 75 gallon tank, 4 tea spoon or is it best to be less but close to 3.50 tea spoon ? It is single dose so I dose it once and observe 1 week and if it did not improve, 3.5 tea spoon again a week after? Or is it best to dose like on Sunday and dose again on wednesday and observe the tank rest? I have never used it, but if fish were flashing this is the med you like to use for them,am I correct? @xXInkedPhoenixX Thank you. When you say 1 tbs salt, is it 1 tbs/10 G or 1 tbs/5G/ Which one? I could not tell from outside the bag but when I opened the bag and put them into the specimen container, it was not looking like the Hillstream loach I got last time from the same seller.. I googled it and it looks like Borneo sucker... I of course sent e-mail to them but no reply yet. I normally used paraguard (I used on cory but not hillstream before) because gentler antibiotic I heard. If I could not use that, I wanted to put in aquarium salt if I could and either observe 4 weeks and treat if something popped up OR try the med trio for the first time on this occasion... I am more feeling like maybe just observe with salt in the water...and 1 month in quarantine.

Hi. I just got Albino cory and Hillstream loach delivered. I would like to ask about quarantine method. I normally do quarantine with 1 tbs aquarium salt / 5 gallon ratio and dosing paraguard 2 weeks plus 2-3 weeks observation. I read hillstream loach is not good for paraguard so I need other method and thinking of trying out med trio method; 1 packet antibiotic med like erythromycin, 1 packet general cure, and 1 tsp ich X for 10 gallon quarantine tank. 1. Can I still use standard dose of aquarium salt for hillstream loach? Or they do not do well at all at any amount of salt in the water? 2. Med trio full dose as I written above is ok for albino cory and hillstream loach and nothing harm them? 3.Am I understanding correctly;to do the med trio, dose all in one shot and let them be in that water for next 7 days and 8th day, water change and gradually removing med? Or I am understanding wrong? 4. What quarantine method do you use especially for hillstream loach? The seller does 1 month quarantine on their side so, chance of getting illness is lower but still they gets scoop up and bagged and shipped so, I like to quarantine them. I could do observe without med for 1 month too if that was much less stress on fish and better when I know seller did that much long quarantine time. Thank you.

Hi. One of the 6 has white stick? (I cannot tell if it is dot or stick but feel like tiny bit raised bump ) on front ,right above the nose hole. Looking at the other ones,since the rest do not have one, it might be something to worry about? What is this? Is this like protein bump or something I heard of? Or is this illness?He got only this spot only. If it were something that require med,what do I need to use and would that be best to treat full tank with hillstream loach, shrimp, snail, rest of the panda cory or I can isolate him in quarantine tank and just treat him? Currently, I have pulled him out from the tank. He eats fine and not like hiding away from rest of the group. Does not act like sluggish. The spot is not fuzzy. Solid white. Thank you. I liked the look and color of the spiderwood in the tank but I did not expect it to float;feeling resistance this much. How long did you boil?Also, how strong did you boil;gentle boil (med high with small bubbles), or rapid rolling boil ( big bubbles one after another)? Thank you.

I did gentle boil for 90 min yesterday,soaked in treated water last night.Then, I did full boil 40 min and let it cool down in the water in the pot. Since the wood that could not stand well on its bottm sat on the kitchen cart surface, I thought it would sink but floated in the tank so, currently, I am using dragon stone that was in the tank to weigh in but how long in general does this wood float; how long did your spider wood floated til it decided to sink? I bought plants and all but cannot attached it still and my tank look messy,lol.So far, only shrimp is there. With malaysian driftwood, it sank and no issue so, using that one as weighing over the spider wood as well. Thank you.

Thank you. I too am thinking that way but tail is not growing back faster so, I was wondering if there is something I was missing out. Tank mates are bunch of guppies and handful of shrimp and Otto.. When feeding time, sometimes especially female gets aggressive and hash males away or chase but I am not sure if that is happening over and over and not recovering yet. Only thing I am kind of wondering is when I do water change (which I did 4 days ago 14th), I only dosed a little bit more than regular dosage of stress coat; when I need to add 37ml of stress coat, I dosed only 40ml. For quick recovery, I should have done 60ml instead (double dose all the way)? API test liquid one is sometime hard to read. Especially Ammonia and I think it is zero and if anything 0.25ppm (sometimes, hard to tell) But I am certain it was not more than that if there were any. Nitrate, I could not tell 20 or 30. When I look at it, it look like somewhere near 20ppm but when I take pic, it look like more than 20ppm, I do not think it is over 40ppm (safe zone) though... What level do you read for my Nitrate?

Hi. I do not see any white edge or red streak or black discoloration but also I do not see him regrowing the tail either. I am not familiar with how Albino full red guppy looks like when they are normal looking coloration. This is my first time to keep. I do not remember if tail was like this when I got her or not but is this tail area I circled looks normal to you; kind of whitish yellowish coloring? I do not remember if it looked like this on the day of arrival or not since I did not take a pic of her tail.. I do not see any abnormal behavior on her and she is in quarantine tank right now. My ph 8, nitrite 0, ammonia 0, nitrate 10 78F tank they are in. Thank you.
