MT Aquatics
I am breeding rainbow fish, is a 20 gal standard to small to keep a trio in long term? If so what would be the better option to hold multiple breeds of rainbows.
Colu
I think 20gallon tank I bit small for bigger species of rainbow fish long term as they are very active swimmers they would be fine for some of the smaller species like Pseudomugil I would go with 40or 55g for bigger species 20g for smaller species of rainbows Edited April 4, 2021 by Colu
FrostiesFishes
I like 29, and 40 breeders best they fit so many needs. And depending on species of rainbows a 20 would be fine for a trio. A 20long would be better . But if you already have a bunch of 20h . I’d just use them. Edited April 6, 2021 by FrostiesFishes
Administrators Cory Posted April 5, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 5, 2021 Most important factor is what you'll be happy with. I believe I could breed rainbows even large ones all day long in a 20H. The difference between what a hobbyist keeps and what a breeder uses are usually quite different.
