CharlieTuna
Seachem flourish says to after being open for three month and easy green does not. Opinions?
Fish Folk
Well . . . I don't / haven't. Flourish seems to be doing wonders still, albeit unrefrigerated. I assume there's good reasons to recommend it. I probably should...
Jungle Fan
Might be because of something they add to Flourish that requires it so the nutrients aren't consumed by bacteria. I don't refrigerate mine, nor has it ever been an issue, my plants don't seem to mind.
CT_
IIRC I saw a video where cory said he had held back a handful of bottles from the first batch of easy green for stability testing and those first bottles were still good as of that recording (years). TheDukeAnumber1
I don't know what bacteria or fungus inhibitor Flourish uses, so maybe they are worried about it losing effectiveness over time once it's open being exposed to air. One advantage of the Easy line is with pump heads you'll get much less air exposure and maybe effectively never have to refrigerate them. I mix my own ferts and use 1 drop of methylene blue per ounce so I don't have to refrigerate and it has worked well.
lefty o
i dont, but think ive only used flourish one time. i mainly use easy green, and leaf zone. ive not noticed any loss of strength in either.
Jungle Fan
I've used Easy Green, and NilocG Thrive S, not a big fan of Flourish, although their root tabs, and potassium are ok. and do come in handy every once in a while.
Koi
I think it is just an extra precaution to prevent molding. But really I think it's more so for Seachem to cover themselves in case of the off chance someone mishandles their products. 8 hours ago, TheDukeAnumber1 said: I mix my own ferts and use 1 drop of methylene blue per ounce so I don't have to refrigerate and it has worked well. I never thought to do that, thats really slick! Vinegar, sorbic acid/potassium sorbate or flourish excel are also good mold preventing additives just in case anybody was curious. Fish Folk
(Knock on wood) non-refrigerated Flourish seems to be keeping this tank grooving along...
