Water stains on aquarium lights

Does anyone know a way  to clean all those white marks from aquarium lights?I think they have actually lowered the light intensity by a lot.I saw a video about this but they used dish soap and im pretty sure thats not aquarium safe.

Many people of this forum use Dawn for cleaning their aquariums. I am sure they rinse thoroughly though.🙂

You might also try vinegar. It should help dissolve hard water stains, but it might need to soak a bit. You don't want it IN the light, so a damp paper towel can help contain it.

I'm also a fan of "magic eraser" for the scrubbing.  you can buy a giant pack for cheap if you look for a generic "melamine sponge".

I can definitely vouch for the "Magic Eraser" sponges. I use the Mr. Clean brand, rather than the generic, but they work like a charm. Dampen the sponge slightly and I don't even have to remove lights from tanks to clean them. I just flip them far enough to wipe them, and they hard water deposits wipe right off in short order.

BTW, if you buy the sponges, make sure it's the original ones, not the ones that have cleaners added to them. I saw one that had some sort of cleaning chemicals added to it. That one is toxic, so avoid it.
