Does anyone know what this is?

After doing some maintenance on my tank, I noticed a small caterpillar type thing. It was flowing with the current and doesn't seem to be alive. This is the first time seeing one after having fish for two weeks. Does anyone know if it's something to be concerned about?

Currently I have monte carlo, anubias barteri, staurogyne repens, and hydrocotyle tripartita 'Japan' . They are not looking the best right now, so it could be a plant root that looks like a caterpillar.

The reason I ask is because a few weeks ago, I freaked out over a rather large “worm” in my tank… turns out, it was just a piece of root that broke off of my Argentine Sword and had started to decay 😂

I tried to look up Elodie and found an Italian singer. 😂

Elodea (Anachris) yeah it definitely looks like that melting, but there might not be any in the tank.

Could've been a rogue plant that got in the shipment and then adjusted very poorly. If it is a plant, floating it should result in some growth and maybe you can ID it.

Could it be part of a shrimp moult?

No, I haven't kept shrimp yet.

It definitely looks like plant debris to me. Did you poke and prod it at all? 😛

I couldn't bring myself to poke at it. It gave me chills just looking at it! 😆
