AtomCatMatt
I’m thinking apistogramma cacatuoide, what’s your suggestions. All fish tend to be popular around here. I’ve already have livebearer’s and I’m not big on pelco’s. 😎🐟⁉️
Daniel
Somebody has been shopping at the $1 per gallon sale. 🙂 I think Apistogramma cacatuoides is a great fish to breed. I am biased towards all Apisto's so take my advice with a grain of salt. Not to demanding, cool parental care, and if you like cacatuoides there are a hundred other Apistos to try.
varanidguy
I have a 20 long waiting to be set up. There's a store not far from me that stocks Holland rams. Hoping to get a pair of those. Same exact species as German blues (mikrogeophagus ramirezi) but the strain grows much larger than German blues.
Paul
I’m breeding Apistogramma nijsenni in a 20L
AtomCatMatt
Very nice setup @Paul . I was probably gonna do a apisto @Daniel cause I love them too. but I figured I would get some suggestions the community can be more open minded. I usually do what I like anyway 😂
Paul
@AtomCatMatt Whatever you choose keep in mind there's not a lot of vertical space in this tank. That's why it works really well with fish that have similar needs as dwarf cichlids. A couple other things about this tank. You may have to cut down filter tubes so they'll fit. Also watch what you use for lighting, I had a Finnex Stingray 2 on this and it was way too powerful (I think the fish needed shades) so I swapped it for another less powerful light that I could adjust the brightness. Good luck.
Maggie
If I ever get another tank, it will be a 20 long. I have a perfect spot for it in my small dining room, but it would first require some major rearrangement of furniture and organization of a bunch of stuff/junk. Telling self "be happy with the 10 for now and breed some shrimp."
Ken Burke
Can’t go wrong with apistos. Another option is panda Corydoras. Really cute, very playful, and generally desirable at the lfs.
josh world
if you do panda corys do the long fin type. I have a few and I love them. You can get them from aquahuna but I git mine from my LFS when they had some in stock. Edited November 1, 2020 by josh world 1
AtomCatMatt
Just now, Ken Burke Can’t go wrong with apistos. Another option is panda Corydoras. Really cute, very playful, and generally desirable at the lfs. That seems nice too. I enjoy corys. I’ll have to ask the lfs what there demand is like they don’t really keep a big tank of them though.
Ken Burke
Ask first, but they may have trouble getting them in stock. If they can’t get em, and you have them.... Might want to know when they order fish too. Last thing you want is to take in a bunch of fish when they just got in a large shipment.
AtomCatMatt
They order twice a week from over seas and once a month from Florida. I live right next to ups world port so even if they don’t need them shipping is quick.
