NotDaleGribble
Hello all Saw this little guy in my 10gal blue dream shrimp tank. So small I can barely get a picture of him. Was wondering what this could be. Maybe a egg caught a ride on some plants? Hopefully not a rice fish I have this tank a bit warm for them.

Looks a bit like some livebearer fry…though the pics aren’t clear.

NotDaleGribble
My apologies for the bad quality pictures, it’s so small it’s hard to get a proper focus. I have no clue how this random fry could of happened I’ve had this tank for a few weeks now and no other life form has been in it besides the blue dreams I have in there. Also good news I see baby blue dreams. How the heck did this happen. A bit a fun surprise.
TOtrees
I love guessing games! It's more likely to be an egg layer than a livebearer, IMO. I vote killifish. I had some golden wonder babies appear in a tank many weeks after I sold the adults. The eggs take a while to hatch, and are tolerant of being moved and even being chilly or air dried for short periods, and the babies hatch really small. Without fry food they can stay tiny for a very long time before you notice them. Also, your baby dude or dudelet appears to be a bit shovel-nosed. Do keep us posted 🙂

NotDaleGribble
I wouldn’t think so, I imagine there rice fish, that’s what the plant seller said they could be. However they kind of don’t look like it.
TheSwissAquarist
They remind me a bit of a Limia livebearer…. @Fish Folk has some.
Fish Folk
I’d guess you’ve got a baby Jordanella floridae (Florida Flagfish). They’re egg layers, and sometimes plants from FL will have them come along for the ride. When mature, they’re stunning pupfish! Once more mature, you can sex them easily. Females display a black dot at the bottom / back of their dorsal fin… They’re fairly adept algae-nibblers. Mature males can be very dominant once fully mature and defending a spawning area. 5
