   Good day everyone ,

I am new here but not new to the wonderful world of Fish and Plants

I was on a sabbatical of sorts , stepping away for about 15 years then My sister gifted me a Led hydroponic herb growing thingy

that sits on the kitchen counter and was amazed at how well everything grew , from the original pods to cuttings of other plants from our garden. I didn't have Led lighting back in the past but always loved the look of a planted tank.  That gift from my sister got me to thinking about getting back in the hobby .  So I called my nephew to whom I gave all my old stuff , a 75gal bf and stand , rocks ,gravel, filter basically  everything that I had. He had just moved and nothing was set up so He returned the favor and gave me all my old stuff back and plus the stuff that He had collected over the past few years which included a 70 gal tank a Rena Filstar xp3 canister  filter that was like new and a brand new Aqueon pro 250 heater.  to make along story short , I ended up using the filter and the heater and all of the gravel and some of my old rocks and driftwood . my 75bf had a broken plastic center brace PXL_20220729_195741339.PORTRAIT.jpg.b805b1e9ed23bcf146f1ac6fd11538eb.jpg and his 70 gal tank had a lot of scratches in the glass .  (if anyone knows a good way to fix the plastic top rim on the 75 bf I would really appreciate it )

So I purchased a brand new 40 gal. breeder at the end of July and set up the tank I also bought a NICREW led , planted and stocked it and I could not be happier PXL_20220928_180554211.PORTRAIT.jpg.2b7e7f40f18d50fe0d111c74436801f3.jpg

I'm interested in the "Hydroponic herb growing thingy".

As for repairing the bowfront brace, there are plastic welding products at auto parts stores.  I've used them with some success in repairing motorcycle parts.  That piece on a bowfront aquarium is structural, so you'd want to make sure it is strong.  That said, my bowfront doesn't have a rim at all.  Then again it is only 36 gallons.  It's a tough call wether or not you could use the tank without the brace.  Perhaps half-full as a riparium.

After getting the tank back after so many years I did a water test outside on our back deck , no leaks .

While I was looking at it there was nothing wrong with the rim and then all of a sudden there was a pop sound at the tank actually kind of jumped , that is when the rim broke . still no leak but the bow front bowed about 3/4" more than normal .
