I don’t have a pic on the phone but all my Malaysian snails go in this tank so the left side of the tank has a layer of snail shells. I was having some problems with them (snails) in a breeding tank and removed 2# of them and put them in with the clown loaches. That was a few days ago and I looked last night and didn’t see a snail. I’m sure there there but it’s so cool to watch them swimming in groups looking for snails all day. I have a some shrimp in the same tank(ghost shrimp) that were meant for feeders but they have had several generations. I think I feed pretty good but in not sure why the angels in the tank does eat them. One last thing. These clown loaches they eat small snails or hand sized apple snails. The big ones the just don’t leave them alone and I think stress the them to death.

the personality is amazing and the colour is awesome but I probably will never have a tank big enough for one. (Minimum 7ft tank)

They certainly fit the bill, but 40 gallons is as big as I can go in this house. (Plus the 20 long on the side, and the mini pond in the backyard...)

Someday when we move I would love a 75 or even a 150, would really love to keep Geophagus and/or Jack Dempseys as well as maybe clown loaches and some larger catfish. It's a distant dream and I'm pretty content with my 40 right now. 👍

I have seen them in a 40, and I’m sure some would be ok with that. I think it’s to small unfortunately. Kuhli Loaches could be a better idea they are close on color and cool but for kids they are either great because you could look for a bit because they are shy and come out more at night. I would need more help with this but there are orange and white goldfish. You might find a common goldfish that is orange and white. I know there is oranda goldfish but I basically know nothing about goldfish. You won’t have to buy a heater for those. You can have and awesome tank that is less than 40. Bigger is not always better. I personally love a school of cardinals or neon tetras. Some the best tanks I have seen are 20-40g tanks.

This one is new and sooo NOT do-able. I never new how cute these were. I had 2 turtles when I was a kid. One aquatic one terrestrial. I just don’t remember this much ADORABLE-NESS 😍 I met this one today at the pet store. Painted turtle is what was in the sign

The hummingbird tetras have been devilishly hard to get and also very hard to keep.  Just got 8 more today (all I could find) because the last one of the previous group just passed away at the end of last week.  Trying once more then I’m done if this group doesn’t do better.  They have also been rather underwhelming even in a dedicated tank although I’m still obsessed with figuring out how best to keep them and light them.

The electric blue Jacks appear to be rife with health issues and a very large percentage don’t make it past 4” long (about 5-6 months old, and somewhere close to the 90% neighborhood on death rate from what I’ve read).  They must always be bred to a wild type since it’s apparently a lethal recessive gene when double dosed.  They have lower fertility and survival rates by a very significant difference - clutches typically 1/2-1/3 of normal size (although that may not be so bad with Jacks).

You should 100% start trying for red rams!  Nobody I would trust more to get it done.

I missed something off my dream list Cuttlefish! 

I watched a documentary once where they had taught the cuttlefish to show shapes on their bodies to ask for things, like different foods.  And that if they were shown certain symbols they could either copy or show a different one to get what they wanted. So that sounds to me like a fun and interactive wetpet

There are similar to octopus and I know there are super smart. I remember an story about one getting one getting out of its enclosure at the aquarium and escaping down a pipe into the ocean
