I typically bring a trio of endlers: 1 proven male, 1 proven female, and one virgin female.

Scuds, frogbit, and my red ramshorns have also been a hit, as well as blackworms, pogostemon, and hornwort. Should have Blue Dreams to start bringing in by this fall.

I also have joined my local fish club and will attend my first meeting in a couple weeks. I’m really excited to go. Also a little nervous, I have no friends IRL that are in the hobby to go with me. Hopefully I will meet some new friends.

I won’t be taking anything with me but hopefully will in the future. I would love to bring home a bunch of plants 🌱

If you go more than once, I can all but guarantee you'll develop IRL friends who love fish. I made friends that I now trust in my home, even through the pandemic. They masked and helped out when I had my strokes due to covid. I'm sure you'll find some friends, too. And plants, lol. One of my NMAS friends calls me when he trims his tanks now.

Last month I joined so I’m very new to clubs. I got a micro worm culture, Riccia fluitans, Salvinia minima.  Due to the July BBQ, and then Keystone Clash there will not be another auction until October.  I intend to take a few BN pleco babies, a breeding trio of of CPD maybe 2 trios as several folks expressed interest, Guppy boys and virgin girls separate. Neocaridina shrimp.  I have some plant trimmings I’m growing out so they look nice as well.

@Marc we have folx who drive down from another state (5 hour drive) to make our Quarterly auction. We make sure the NMAS and CAS auctions are different months, and some of our members drive up to Colorado. Our meetings are center of the state, so some folx have a 40 minute drive, and others have a 4 hour drive. We organize on FB so the bar-b-q feeds the long distance members. Average drive is 2.5 hours. Totally worth it for a once a month meeting with fellow nerms!

Especially now that so many of us have Co-op gear, it's easy to find everyone when we meet at a park. Even brand newbies find us, lol

My local club had our June meeting a couple of weeks ago, and we are taking the months of July and  August off from live meetings as they are typically very low attended. I took to the last meeting several plants, and some assorted botanicals. I bought a bag of golden teddy livebearers that our speaker had brought with him. If I had more tank space and more cash to spend, I could have gotten a lot of cheap fish, as the meeting attendance was a little lower than normal due to the fact that we had a couple weeks of crappy weather, and the day of the meet it was super nice out.

I was stunned at the inexpensive prices fish and plants went for t our auction.  There were even cares species and carnivorous plants going for only a few dollars. It really felt like a bunch of nerms just wanting to share different interests.

That is the good thing about local fish clubs. A lot of the time, you can get fish, plants or shrimp that you don't see often or at all in most LFS for really good prices.

There were maybe 20 people there. You could tell they were all long timers. They were not unwelcoming just preoccupied with their own things. They really did not have anyone come up to me (new person) and welcome, show around, explain things. Maybe because it was low attendance due to summer. But they were very nice folks and having a bowl show contest so very busy.  So I guess if that’s an area they lack someone for in time I can be a welcoming committee type person. I always try to find somewhere I can help to benefit whatever I’m involved in.

A welcoming committee that's a great idea! I might have ta steal it lol I think that would actually help a lot of hobbyists feel a little less awkward coming in initially! Ur onto something there for sure💖🐟🌱
