Clyde and Clarence are tired of being mistaken for molts. They almost got beamed up two or three times.

I saw this shrimp laying down and getting picked on by another shrimp. When she started swimming around, looked at first like fungus, but closer look seems to indicate start of a molt because I see some of this looks just like her legs. (She is taking off her pantyhose, folks.) At least I “think” so. I usually don’t see molting in progress. She’s in a breeder box (in case it could be illness) and has remained perfectly still in there.  I will check on her in a bit. Anyone familiar with this?

It looks like this woodsy mama is berried.

The dust you see is calcium carbonate. It’s from their Repashy.

I'll check out the thread.

I think the shrimp molted already elsewhere and it's "stuck" or some of the shell didn't break off right on some section. It's difficult to say with absolute certainty what it is specifically. There are some other conditioy, I'll check my notes and see if there's anything else to look into.

A pair of tweezers may help with shell removal but it's obviously risky.

I’ve been thinking the shrimps don’t have enough to pick at because they really go after those molts. So I gave the wilds the feeding dish from the 29. Snoopy was too involved in that feeding dish and yesterday I saw a snail feeler get nipped when she was trying to go after Repashy. Plus the tetras weren’t allowed near that dish. The dish was slimy with biofilm, and the wilds noticed and are enjoying it. But I also gave them some more used ceramics and some green beans. They’ve been getting Repashy cubes daily, but they go through them in 45 minutes and then look for more food throughout the day. The green beans should resolve the issue.

And same with the blue tank. I had to give them an extra Repashy. They go nuts over it. The feeding dish is like Beatlemania right now.

The babies love the green beans.

No wonder they were hungry! Found more shrimplets! Tiny and clear. Also I started to add substrate, as I decided this will be their home from now on. This is inert and does not affect treatment. It will make finding molts easier too. I need to start seeding a smaller sponge for them, for later. This is clearly too big for the tank, but it’s all I had ready to go at the time.

I really do enjoy those little cubes.  Why they are sold in packs of so few..... beyond me.

I took some photos of mine just to randomly look at the colors and see what I'm working with.  A check of sorts on how they are doing.  I was glad to see them going to town on their "hotel" of sorts and using the dragonstone. (and of course the sponges)

It feels like some of the adolescents are already "big enough" to be considered adults, but they have much more pale color. Hopefully they color up a bit deeper over time.  More new baby shrimp as well too.  Little opaque specks on the glass.

I traded my friend some alder cones for the cube and the house! She’s going to adopt 20 shrimp from me soon. She has prepared a tank ready and wants a colony.

I got another bottle of sand added today. Needs one or two more but I’m just doing a little at a time based on my schedule. They will get their first water change tomorrow, and course 1 will be done for these wilds. And with the end of each course, a lolly to enjoy!

Do you guys see how berried that female is on the sponge filter?  She's probably gonna have really cute babies.  Her pattern is neat.

I can’t wait to be done so I can add live plants and wood.

The addition of green beans each day is keeping them off the molts, so that’s great.

Here they are eating some Repashy.  & they love the ceramic media @nabokovfan87, as you can see. That was a great suggestion.

Congratulations are in order. The wilds completed their first week of treatment, AND they had shrimplets. I had to get the huge sponge filter out of there, it was just too big for that tank. I cleaned it in a white dish pan. I like to use that when I know there will certainly be a shrimplet hunt. A lot of shrimplets were rescued (8? 10? Lost count..), but some may have hitched a ride on that sponge which.. is now in Geppetto’s 10gal tank. Yeah.. I know.. 💀

And they did get a lolly to enjoy! And some plants and cholla during this rest period. These wilds haven’t really had lollies up to this point. I offered one in the community tank but they didn’t go for it; I think the fish made them feel uncomfortable. But today they are enjoying it!

Yeah! That's awesome. I'm glad they are doing well. Some surfaces, just based on the amano stuff it's good to see that information is applicable to the neos.

Adding the amano into the neo tank, she went right for the sponge and cover at first, but eventually they were on the rocks doing the same thing. Seeing the giant amano trying to clean a single bit of moss was quite funny as it slowly just kept falling over. (I'll toss some photos with the reds in the journal here shortly)

If there’s one thing shrimps can’t resist, it’s riding around on snails. And that was true today in the 29g. She’s been moved to the 5.5g. I’m hoping that’s the last of the shrimp in this tank!

What is this cuteness and why am I seeing this too late aaaaaaa

They actually molt a few times before they come out of hiding. The shell is a fixed size so young growing shrimplettes molt often to grow.

It makes sense! They grow fast. The molts are pretty small so NERMs wouldn’t know unless they are specifically looking for molts.

Yet again… I forgot to put the Repashy back in the fridge and it sat out for a good 10 or 11 hours. 😫

So, let’s add making Repashy to this morning’s to do list. I didn't even make cute Repashy in the molds.  Just spoon it out of a container, Irene style. Simple!  I made Soilent Green w/ calcium carbonate (the fish room staple), and Community Plus. No one likes Community Plus! The tetras repeatedly spat it out, and Snoopy had a taste, looked up at me, looked at the “food”, looked up at me, at the food…extended stare at me….then turned tail and left. Even the snails were eating mega slowly, begrudgingly.

One fish, the only fish, that likes it is.. Geppetto!  He enjoys foraging on the bottom also, which is a nice change of pace for him because most betta foods float.

I will probably give the rest to my friend with 1,000,000 guppies. Guppies will eat anything!
