Stephen Zawacki
Im having a lighting debockel, and trying to decide. I have a water box 10 long. I was wondering the tank is heavily planted, and I am in college I've heard great reviews about the fluval nano. And how it grows plants well does anyone have any opinions. Also does the light have a humming noise because it is in my bedroom so I would have to choose another light if it did it.
Streetwise
It is silent and awesome. We have a massive thread covering it and the other Fluval lights:
Patrick_G
Wait, you said you had a Twinstar S series. Just use that!
Dwayne Brown
@Patrick_GIs right, if you have a Twinstar S series (which is a great lighting option) you could use it. The fluval nano has no noise and it works pretty well for a nano light. It's not gonna be like a stingray but it does a pretty good job.
Stephen Zawacki
Well the twinstar is on my 5 gallon does not fit my ten that is why I was asking
Dwayne Brown
@Stephen ZawackiI personally am incredibly cheap and would just rig it with duck tape, and plastic to fit LOL. that aside any light with decent reviews will be fine for an aquarium. Do you have any photos of your tank? That way maybe we can suggest something that will work perfectly with your setup.
Stephen Zawacki
I'm at home right now not at college , all I would like to know is would the nano disperse light across the whole tank?
Dwayne Brown
It should, but it also depends on the structures in the tank the general layout of it etc. i think you will be fine with the fluval if you decide to use it @Stephen Zawacki
Stephen Zawacki
The tank has spider wood on top of petrified wood.
Dwayne Brown
@Stephen ZawackiSounds like a beautiful tank, how large is the pet wood and where is it located in relation to the center of the tank? Also what kind of fish are currently in this tank? I might be able to recommend for a certain species. Stephen Zawacki
So the tank is meant to be where the hardscape is in tbe left hand side so it is not centered. And the tank is species only with 16 celestial pearl danios.
Dwayne Brown
@Stephen ZawackiI think the fluval would work just fine for your setup. When you get the chance please post a photo I would love to see this tank it sounds amazing.

Stephen Zawacki
Awesome we'll this tank I don't have any light that is why I was asking about the nano because I was trying to improvise with the twinstar and it does not work.
Stephen Zawacki
So I have a question is the fluval flex light a good light and will it grow plants great. I've read online that it does but I thought I would ask because the specs are the same as the nano. Thx
DaveO
It depends on which flex you are talking about. The 15 gallon flex light for me was garbage. It was great for algae though. In fact it grew algae so well it smothered the plants. The best day for that light was when it broke. I replaced it with a fluval aquasky and now it's great. My advice would be to avoid the flex 15 and go directly to the flex 32 and avoid all those problems. It comes with the Aquasky light already installed. Now that tank I love from the get go.
