  2. So guys I know I asked a few day ago about identification and I was I had a mixed group of Apistos. After googling I am 90 percent sure I have apsitogramma biatenta. The 2 males I have a 2 females I have look almost I identcal to the pictures. I Rehomed the other two that were different. Please help make sure they are the same species. I have lots of pics to help identify. Also I was told if not biatenta that they could be wild caught cacatoides. thanks
  3. Hey Guys I have a couple questions, I have a fluval flex 32.5 gallon. I recently had the chance to buy rio ampiacu apistos. I bought 2 confirmed beautiful males and 4 females three confirmed female, one may possibly be a sleeper male but is looking more female than male and even if that’s the case I would have essentially three pairs Worst case. I also have in the tank 11 neon tetra and for the corys I have C125 aspiradora, which I have 11 and got at auction. The tank is beautiful and lots rock work and nooks and crannies and I also have an additional two apistogramma caves in addition in their too. So there are lots of hiding spots. Also the tank is heavily planted too. With Val, crypts, and tiger lily. now I have kept apistos in the past but, I would like to know the care requirements for these guys. The rio ampiacu. Because I cannot find anything online about them so any info on them like full mature color maily and possibly collection point for them Also I want to know the main question are they a natural strain of apistogramma, being rio ampiacu purple and not manipulated in a lab it appears so but want to ask. And anything else here are pictures of the tank where I bought them from also I will have pictures of my tank too. thanks stephen
  4. Now want to clarify I started with a larger group of the Honduran red points I then had the alpha male appear to select his female and I think she’s female and want to make sure she has every quality but want to make sure I looked up online said females have a orange blotch on their side and hers is there it’s a little faint she’s more blue but I looked up and it appears her fins match a female more blunt and round but want to ask you guys to make sure that she is for sure female they seem to be doing great together which I would have to think would mean they are male and female then, because if they were the same sexes they would fight. Also the male was chasing every other one except the one that he chose in the pics below. Here are pictures. Their always appear to be swimming together or near each other too.
  5. Hey guys so I purchased 7 turkana jewels all about the same size I would say 2.5 inches. My question for you is how do you sex them? Now a couple do apppear to be a little beefier which I am assuming is a possible male? But how do you tell the females? all of mine have some spangle around the cheeks and on their fins so how do I find out who is a female or not? Also there do appear to be a couple that are starting to turn more red than the others so what does that mean? Thanks for the information here are pics.
  6. Hey guys so have a question my brother had a group of 11 Honduran red points, I had 11 msobo mbuna in my 32 gallon, my brother took those to college and gave me the red points my first question is I want to know can I keep the group together I’ve called two local fish stores and said they are similar to convicts and keeping them in a group because honestly their behavior is great and also it says the largest they could get is 4 inches so even if all of them got that big which they won’t it would not be that bad in my opinion and the one fish store in Cleveland, agnoquatics agreed. Second question any other info on them would be great thx sorry haha my brother dropped the bomb but honestly these guys are great! Here are pics also I would say all of them are from 2 inches to almost 3 inches. Also how do you sex them male and female.
  7. Ok sounds good haha 😂 and thank you for all your help!!
  8. Ill try and get some they are really hard to get love to hide lol That’s the dominate male the dorsal is light teal blue with dark navy blue on top then his face is starting to transition along with his body to the blue hue as you can sort of see. Also he has a blue mask around the eyes if that helps in the identification. I ill try and get a better pic tomorrow this is my dominate male, I have two others that are slowly starting to display too. Thanks for trying to help. Also, are the xtreme cichlid pewee ok for them?
  9. Here are the pictures too. They love weaving in and out of the rocks.
  10. And I am sorry Ok sounds good, I have only been doing it for a few day should they be ok they seem completely fine? And I will go buy the good food food tomrow i have the xtreme cichlid pewee sinking pellets is that ok for them?
  11. Ok I will get some more food right now I’m feeding a mixture of xtreme krill flake and beef heart flake and they go bonkers for it. Is that ok? Also I’ve been just trying to get more info that’s all and i bought lots more rocks today too. All I know is that they are Msobo Mbuna. Too I’ll try and do digging for a scientific name too.
  12. Hey guys so have a question I went on a few month hiatus from fish keeping a bunch of my tanks from college got sabotaged and could never get recovered and I got frustrated so took a break. I decided and went to one tank I started about a month ago a tank with Msobo Mbuna an I LOVE THEM!!. First off they are so much better than saulosi they are more personable and in my opinion more beautiful dimporphic species. My local fish store once. I re started my tank letted me know they had three males and 8 females. So I got all of them for 60 bucks which is a steal. They are currently in my 32 gallon fluval flex with rocks and Crrib sea cichlid substrate. I have a few questions. First being is I have found through a lot of reasearch and I mean a lot there is almost no solid info on them? So I want to know have any of you guys kept them. Some of the little information I did find is they are extremely rare in the United States. Also that they are about 1 inch bigger than saulosi other than that nothing else. So any other information please enlighten me!! I l will post pictures tonight I have 1 dominate male already displaying great colors while the 2 other coming along and the females are a gorgeous yellow also. Thanks Y’all!!!!
  13. Hey guys so my 40 breeder I have a Nicaraguan ornate slider. He is about 1 year old and 5 inches. My question I have is the tip of his tail curves slightly upward. Is that normal? I saw online that it’s meant for breeding but wanted input? Thanks, stephen
